The DNC has nicknamed its effort "Operation Fortunate Son" after a Creedence Clearwater Revival anti-war anthem from the 1960s. The song speaks of the privileged few, "born silver spoon in hand," who send others to war.

"These are not allegations. These are not speculations. These are hard, cold facts," Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, said of the charges Thursday.
"And the president, and only the president, can clear it up."
Harkin was speaking at a news conference at the Democratic National Committee headquarters, in which he outlined the increasing allegations against the president and his service in the Air National Guard during the war.
Numerous media sources have levied charges against the president -- including that the White House and Pentagon withheld documentation from journalists, that Bush did not fulfill the requirements of his service with the National Guard, that Bush was AWOL at two different points during his service, and that he received preferential treatment as the son of a senator.
"The president has repeatedly insisted he did not receive any special treatment to get into the (Texas Air National) Guard. We now know this isn't true," Harkin said.
"We now know this was not true," he later added. "And the president also knows, and knew, this is not true."
Some folks are born made to wave the flag Ooh, they're red, white, and blue And when the band plays "Hail to the Chief" They point the cannon right at you It ain't me, it ain't me I ain't no senator's son It ain't me, it ain't me I ain't no fortunate one Some folks are born silver spoon in hand, Lord, dont they help themselves But when the tax man comes to the door, Lord the house looks like a rummage sale It ain't me, it ain't me I ain't no millionaire's son It ain't me, it ain't me I ain't no fortunate one Some folks inherit star spangled eyes, Ooh, they send you down to war And when you ask them, "How much should we give?" They only answer "More! More! More!" It ain't me, it ain't me I ain't no military son It ain't me, it ain't me I ain't no fortunate one It ain't me, it ain't me I ain't no fortunate one
Was this the story about the son who stepped on a mine blowing off all his limbs in VN?
The DNC? They are coordinating with a 527?
"Was this the story about the son who stepped on a mine blowing off all his limbs in VN?"
Yes, that's the one. It was when I first learned about Chesty Puller, another vet who didn't go around bragging about his exploits.
Which only strengthens my point......
Didn't Kerry get 4 deferments before being turned down on the 5th?
It seems operation fortunate son has already jumped the shark.
There's a "Bad Moon Risin'" on the Kerry campaign.
The irony didn't escape me after reading your post.
Enough already with the damned 1960s,lies,frauds,and Saul Allinsky styles (stinking COMMIE!) gambits.
Yeah but the only part of that that you'll hear on the MSM is where he volunteered for SwiftBoats. Of course we all know the real deal.
They actual quote is "Oh the wicked web they weave, when first they practice to deceive" (I think);but yours is close enough. :-)
Actually, at the time Kerry served on her Gridley was technically a "frigate," DLG-21. I was assigned to her about two years later, and she was still so known. Some time later all of the DLGs got re-designated CG, guided missile cruiser. But there were only three REAL CGs in the Navy, the Albany (CG-10), the Chicago (CG-11), and the Long Beach, (CGN-9). I served on Chicago for four years.
Kerry may well be reaping the reward of letting the Clintonoids take over his campaign. What better way to sabatoge it than to indulge Kerry's penchant for lying and fabricating records than to fabricate some blatant forgeries that then explode in Kerry's face? PIAPS' chances of getting the DemonRat nomination in 2008 have just significantly improved.
Yet the writer of that song, John Fogerty, served his country in the 1960s in...the National Guard!
"The irony didn't escape me...."
I'm sure not. It was a pretty sad story, actually. The son eventually committed suicide some years after the book came out. He was with the veteran's administration for some time.
So then the people that don't vote, vote for John Kerry.
