Divide and conquer, it works. For how long has the media tried to divide conservatives? It worked with Perot. They know what works but this is one election where every conservative (except maybe the immigration only crowd) knows Bush is way better than SKerry.

I missed the CBS Evening News (and no! I NEVER watch it).
I was out but did Dan Blather mention anything on the news about those documents that may be forged?

This is going to turn into "our experts against your experts" and the perps will walk. It is my understanding that CBS has already quibbled on the document "verification". Instead of insisting that the documents are authentic, CBS has changed their story to say that the documents "are consistent" with the "opinions" of Killian, according to several sources that knew Killian before he died.
According to CBS' new description, they are reporting on hearsay of hearsay. But, at least this gives them wiggle room on the whole forgery issue. (And remember, a crayfish doesn't need a whole lot of room to start backing up.)

Thanks hopefully someone will cross post your explanation to DU as they are saying the proportional fonts and superscripts were available on IBM typewriters of the day.

Just work out the odds of typing a document in 1972 that exactly matched the word wrap, column alignment, and centering algorithm of MS Word 2004. I think those odds are pretty long, given the propensity to hyphenate or hit the Return key at non-standard times. The margin warning bell rang at a certain time, and most typists (I remember this!) hit Return when it rang, even if the next word would have fit.
Spock, what are the odds?

LOL. No different than any other day.

The ABC Nightly News was pointing out the inconsistencies that have been discovered and that they seriously doubt that the memos are real. They read a statement from See?-BS saying they stood behind the documents and THEIR experts said they were authentic.

150 replies discussing what ABC said and still nothing on what the %^&%#$ ABC said.
Classic.

All that money, and George Soros can't buy a decent forgery. I guess $15 mil doesn't go as far as it used to.

This is more fun than I've had in a long time. FOX just ran a clip of that slimeball Harkin stepping in it. I can't wait to see what happens.

ABC doesn't accuse CBS of anything in this report. ABC's Peter Jennings mentions that authenticity questions have been raised about the documents, and then explains those discrepancies. Terry Moran does the reporting.
I'm glad ABC covered this, but it wasn't a "gotcha".
