Bush, in Missouri, defended his decision to go to war, saying "it was right for America and it's right for America now that Saddam Hussein is no longer in power."
In West Virginia, Cecil Roberts, president of the United Mine Workers of America, gave Kerry a rifle as a gift. Kerry, a self-described gun-owner and hunter, quipped: "I thank you for the gift, but I can't take it to the debate with me."

Kerry just had a Kansas City flashback.
Instapundit just put in a few words about the issue at http://instapundit.com/
What we say off-the-cuff in unguarded moments is more likely to reflect what is really in our heart, IMHO. I think that we have to consider Kerry as a potentially unhinged, unstable man who harbors a deeper level of ill-will toward the president that we might have imagined. This is the man who was present at a meeting in which political assasinations was discussed. He did not disassociate himself from that group. This says to me that there's a substantial likelihood that this man has not yet grown up and is still a danger.
Sometimes Rush is such a foolish waste of time!
That certainly is a possibility.
Kerry I'm sure is already sorry he said that. Just another goof-up. Besides, according to Drudge, that weapon Kerry was totin' would have been banned if Kerry had his way. What a morooon.
spoken by a poseur that truly doesn't understand firearms or the people that believe in the right to possess them.
Of course sKerry can't bring the rifle to the debate...Bush is not a U.S. Senator supporting the Vietnam War in the early 70's...
I'm sure Lamestream will immediately rush to call Kerry onto the carpet.(EXTREME sarcasm!)
Antone care for a debate?
I hope that someone actually phones it in to the USSS as an actual threat against President Bush.
Let JFK be interviewed by the men who have sworn an oath to protect our elected executive.
And then put it in his FBI file.
LOL! The new ads by the other Vet group against Kerry is using that "Killing Senators" meeting in their ads!
Yeh! (EXTREME sarcasm!)
Gee Senator Kerry - Whatever did you mean by that remark? Do tell. We are waiting.....
Agreed. Well said!
Watching his campaign is shamefully painful-for the dems, that is. The debates will be his swan song. He's suffered quite a battering from the Swifties and others (not the least of which is his chameleon-like stand on every issue)and the final, fatal right cross will be deftly delivered by GW himself-and I will be sitting on the sofa with popcorn & drink in hand, enjoying the whole thing! :)
Not only a shotgun, but an auto loader with a pistol grip - the kind of thing Hanoi John and the democrats want to ban.
From your lips to Bush's ears! Bush has to be careful. I very much liked Peggy Noonan's open advice to the Bush campaign on Sean's show today.
Do not overtrain for the debate. Come in straight from a boisterous, uplifting rally to the debate. And third, do not be rocked off your heels by the most audacious, bold-faced lies you have heard in your life.
Apparently flat-out lies have won some debates for Kerry because he so shocks with his audacity that it is like a STUN GUN for his opponent. Bush has to respond swiftly with something like "Name your source for that." Since it will be a stunning lie, there is no way to research it in advance.
Maybe a joke would be in order, like "Are you SURE you put that one through the fact-checkers, Senator?" with Bush's twinkly smile.
Oh,yes...I have a feeling that GW will be ready for sKerry.
He's a pretty smart guy,and i'll bet that we have not seen the best side of GW yet,but Kerry will!
Cool!

Simply because I could...lol
