Seeing the tight, sad face of an Airman loading the bodies aboard a dirty Air Force Transport and the wide smiling face of a stewardess greeting the passengers aboard a clean Pan American Clipper Jet. Hearing a Vietnamese beg you to leave his country and an American colonel tells you to bomb his country. Hearing a Vietnamese invite you to live in his home, after the war and an American explain why you can’t live in his block, after the war. Flying over barren, brown, safe American held terrain and over lush, green unsafe enemy terrain. Feeling happy to be leaving a country in which you do not belong and sad to be returning to a country in which you are not allowed to belong. Sacrificing a portion of your consciousness so you won’t have to deal with being there and building mental blocks so you won’t have to deal with having been there.

Many of us who served in the military despise John Kerry.

I never served in Nam.. I was on active duty from 1959 until the summer of 1961. There were few if any troops in Nam. I was no longer on active duty when I first heard of Viet Nam.

But I had family and many friends who did serve in Nam. I despised John Kerry then and I despise him now. Only the media elite, who never served anywhere, could believe that any moral person who actually served in the military could support John Kerry.

If you want to know what Vets think of Kerry go to any VFW, Amvets, or American Legion Post and sit down at the bar. You will get an earful. I am not elegible for VFW membership but I do belong to Amvets and the Legion. The vets I have met do not support Kerry. Those of us who served before Nam as well as those who served after.. feel about Kerry the way those that served during Nam. WE don't like him. We consider him a traitor to his country.

I do think this election will be decided much like every other election in the last 100 years. That does not bode well for the Kerry Krew. They just don't get it.
