Ok, FReepers in the way of Frances check in so we can get a head count to make sure everyone makes it through alright!
Boca Raton!
FReepmail
Checking in from Deltona!
JAX, reporting in.
My daughter and grand-daughter are actually flying down to Palm Beach today to help my ex. Haven't heard yet that Frances will be hitting that far north of Palm Beach county yet, so I am interested in tracking with you all as well. Moved from Cocoa to Los Angeles in 1982 so love the Space coast! Will be praying for all of you!!
Bill
This thing's a monster. Saw a view of it that was sent down from the International Space Station and it IS big. I hope those in harms way will be safe. God-speed to all of you.
Hey, my son and his family live in Viera. Where are you planning on going if there is a evac? My son said all hotels on the Tampa side are booked.
I am staying right here...lol. I have faith that this house which was built in 1997 will do fine. It is guaranteed by the builders to 140 mph winds. I doubt Viera will see 140...maybe 110..but not 140 or higher.
Their house was just built last fall, but he has a wife, two children two dogs and is not taking any chances. Just got to find someplace to hang out until it is over. I'm in the meantime trying to pray that storm into a sharp right-hand turn! LOL Best of luck to you.
Good morning,
I'm in Palm bay in the far nortwest corner. I'm staying but I am sending my wife and stepdaughter inland to Naples. I just stopped in here while taking a break from preparing for this storm.
And yes, I am worried too. But I think that it is going to hit up closer to Cape Canaveral. We will all know more on Friady though.
The Working Man
Hubby has been in San Juan Puerto Rico all week!! That was nervous, but they were fine down there. He's due home tonight - just in time for Francis!!
Stay safe everyone - will check in later.
I reserved rooms in Jacksonville....now it's heading for Jacksonville.
I reserved rooms in Orando...
..was just told by an Orlando hotel clerk that they are expecting a catastrophic hit on their area!!!!!
Please, does anyone know of a hotel/motel in the St.Pete, Sarasota, Clearwater.....anywhere...!!!
Prayers for all of you down that way!
Umm...it's been tracking thataway for a few days now....
If you leave head for ft Meyers or Alabama.
Sorry I don't know the name of it but my son just called and said they had finally found a place in the Everglades area. They only require 24 hour cancel notification.
They have also booked a place in Atlanta so that if the storm comes in lower in Florida they'll head for Atlanta.
Personally I don't believe anywhere on the east-coast of Florida is going to be very safe. He said this is a big storm. They've already issued evac orders for Merritt island. My son lives not far from there.
I am praying it doesn't land on U.S. soil!!!!!
Good luck.
Wow.. we used to live in Oakland (between Clermont and Orlando). I know our old neighborhood was spared by the last hurricane --- but Winter Park was hit harder then they expected. This can't be good news.
Keep us posted and stay safe. I guess it's time to pray for everyone in the path and hope that our property still has some live oak on it :-) -- We're planning a move back to FL in the next few years..
I'll take a southwest turn to Cuba.
Checking in from Jacksonville...
The Vehicle Assembly Building original built for the Saturn V rocket and the nearby service hangars for the Space Shuttle are certified at best for 105 mph winds--if Hurricane Frances reaches the Cape Canaveral area at Category 4 or higher these buildings could be heavily damaged or destroyed. And worst part is that the surviving space shuttles Discovery, Atlantis and Endeavour are currently being serviced and upgraded there--a direct hit by Hurricane Frances could destroy the hangars along with the shuttles inside them.
