I enjoy this forum, but lately I've noticed a troubling tendency for posters here to descend into horrible and immature name-calling. Such name-calling, and extremism without reason does nothing but harm our cause. It turns off casual lurkers and readers of this forum. It provides fodder for this forum to be demonized and non-respected elsewhere. Below I provide a few examples. I call on Freepers to stop using such terms voluntarily. If that doesn't work, I call on the moderators to warn, if not censor, posters who use such terms. I realize that Democratic Underground uses even more ridiculous terms sometimes. However, your opponents' choice to frolack in waste does not provide an excuse to do likewise. Rather, it provides an opportunity to rise above, and show one's intellectual and moral superiority. Without more, I present a few examples of the type of garbage I'm talking about. I call on fellow posters to add their own.
1) "Hitlery" -- I dislike Hillary Clinton's politics, and what I know of her personality. However, nothing she has said or done (including her love-fest with Suha Arafat) justifies comparing her to one of the worst monsters in all history. Doing so not only demeans the Holocaust, and all the war dead of WWII, it makes a mockery of this forum to allow it to be posted.
2) "Demorat" -- This is just stupid. Calling your opponent a rodent does nothing to promote conservatism or libertarianism. It does everything to make posters and this forum look like intellectual infants, prone to tantrums and incapable of rational debate. We disagree with Democrats. We should not dehumanize them, or think them so below us that we need not engage them in debate and triumph.
3) "McInsane" & etc. -- John McCain is a conservative, loyal Republican. Indeed, in some areas -- such as controlling spending -- he's far more conservative then Bush. However, he is also a mavarick who doesn't tow the party line -- and, in my opinion, sometimes perhaps puts his principles below his desire to win applauds from the media. That being said, his ACU rating is strong, and he has put legitimate personal disagreements with Bush behind him to support what's best for his party -- and, more importantly -- his country. Feel free to critique McCain. Feel free to disagree with him when he criticizes fellow Republicans or takes an odd liberal stand. However, do not resort to petty name-calling -- especially not name calling that implies he lacks mental faculties, and/or is evil. It's just not right.
So I have written. I hope that a silent majority of Freepers agree with me here.
A series of hard-Left mentors introduced Hillary to the brass-knuckle realities of revolutionary activism. As a Wellesley undergraduate, she met and interviewed radical organizer Saul Alinsky, whose Machiavellian tactics she admired. Hillarys senior thesis supported Alinsky's call for class warfare. (4)
At Yale, Hillary found a new Svengali, in the form of leftwing law professor Thomas Emerson, known around campus as "Tommy the Commie." Emerson recruited Hillary and other students to help monitor the trial of the New Haven Nine for civil rights violations. Hillary took charge of the operation, scheduling the students in shifts, so that student monitors would always be present in the courtroom. She befriended and worked closely with Panther lawyer Charles Garry. (5)
respected Hillary biographies and exposés such as Barbara Olsons Hell to Pay; David Brocks The Seduction of Hillary Rodham; Joyce Miltons The First Partner; and Carl Limbachers Hillarys Scheme.
At Yale, Hillary helped edit the Yale Review of Law and Social Action a leftwing journal which promoted cop-killing and featured cartoons of pig-faced police.
From the Claremont InstituteBy Steven F. Hayward:
She also dissembles about her senior thesis at Wellesley on radical community organizer Saul Alinsky. In Living History Hillary plays up her disagreements with Alinsky. She says she rejected the then-popular radical idea of revolutioneven if there was one, she says she concluded in 1968, I wouldn't participateand says she fundamentally disagreed with Alinsky that "the system" could not be changed through conventional politics. This is narrowly true, though Rodham-Clinton's thesis (I have read it) clearly sympathizes with Alinsky's radical viewpoint that the Great Society's liberal social policy didn't go far enough because it didn't redistribute power to the people. Hillary rejects Alinsky's "bottom-up" community organizing because she believes in "the role of centralized social planning in social change." She notes at the end of her thesis that many ideas considered "radical" at that time were mainstream policy in European social democracies. "Societal comparisons raise again questions about the meaning of 'radical' and even 'revolutionary' within a mass production/consumption state, particularly the United States." This is the Hillary of the health care fiasco of 1993, in which she brazenly declared that she couldn't be responsible for all the undercapitalized small businesses that could not afford health insurance for their employees.
Well, I always liked to use "BeelzeBubba" for Clinton and "Owlgore" for Algore. B-)
Whiny crybabies, thankfully, do not last long on FR. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. If you would make the rules, do so on your own forum, please.
Here we go again.
After being introduced to Free Republic in 1998, and registering in 1999, I have noted that periodically, autocratic types will post this crap under the illusion that they have the holy grail of propriety, and certainly all others on the forum should defer to him/her.
I call that the "Copernican Syndrome", people who believe that they are the center of the universe, probably has a cowed wife and adult children who never visit, and he is clueless about the cause.
Hitlery is a cute ename for the *itch. Demorats is a description, not an insult, and I have no intention of stopping its use.
GREAT.
THANKS.
ANYTHING ELSE you find re her thesis, please ping me.
Blessings,
How about.......
"The one who's heart is as black as the Devil's riding boots"?
Ha! Ha! Ha!, Ho! Ho! Ho!, Heh! Heh! Heh!, Hee! Hee! Hee!,.

VERY, VERY BEAUTIFULLY PUT,
imho.
THX.
I don't.
Only the government can censor. Take a look at the First Amendment, please.
But, seriously, if you are so offended by the remarks about Hillary, I would suggest you just scroll on by those posts that you might have your sensibilities shaken.
I was so offended by Hillary during their eight years in office, that I programmed my TV remote to "blackout" when the Billaries came on. It is still programmed.
You might want to take control of your own life and stop trying to control others.
From what I have seen of his past actions he is liable to fall off the conservative wagon, depending upon which side of the fence he is on any particular day or issue, once the victory celebration for winning the election by realtime conservatives is concluded?
JUST KIDDIN'
Since Clinton, they've got DEPRAVITAS!!!
Not to mention their unflinching support for GANG-GREEN!!!
My favorite is when I see 'em with their "BORN AGAIN PAGAN" bumpersnicker!!!
How did they get these labels??? They EARNED 'EM!!!
When they show ANY sign of civility... Then I'll consider reforming my attitude toward them... Not till then!!!
Speaking of Buchannan, you never did address my post to you pointing out the 2000 Reform Party platform the other day. Are you still contending that it was pro-gay and pro-abortion?
Stop wringin your hands over what other people will think of you, or this forum! Listen to Rush and he'll explain it to you.
My 16 year old son absolutley adores the name "Hildabeast."
Kinda makes you wonder if ChiBrew worries obsessively about what France and Germany think about us.
