I'm told that now coming across the newswires is a new column from Bob Novak that contains extensive quotes from Retired Rear Adm. William L. Schachte Jr.
Schachte, call-sign "Batman," has broken his press silence to insist that he was indeed aboard the Boston Whaler or "skimmer" in the early morning mission on December 2, 1968, out of which Sen. John Kerry's first Purple Heart was awarded. Schachte maintains that Kerry's minor arm wound was not sustained while under enemy fire, but was indeed the result of Kerry code-named "Robin" on this mission being careless in firing an M-79 grenade launcher. Other officers are quoted to support the likelihood of Schachte's presence.
I'll update this post when I can find the full Novak column online.
Hibbard and Schachte tell the same story. And Dr Letson agreed with Hibbard regarding the wound. ALso Lt Ted Peck.
On his fitness report filed by Hibbard fourteen of the eighteen categoreis were marked "unobserved". (including integrity)
O'Neill's kidney donation came up in the Rush interview.
He's a class act.
Bush is as well.
Nope.
I even had one commander who said that the first four months were free....on the job training.
He didn't even hold you accountable until after that. (Except for reallys stupid or immoral stuff.)
What self-respecting German engineer could have possibly *imagined* that the Mighty Bismarck would have faced WWI aircraft!?
;^>
"Damn, I wish I had my "Unfit For Command" book, its on order at B.Dalton , they said they would call when they get some more copies in. I bet a lot of questions I have are answered in the book. I seem to have heard that there were to be two boats in the operation and one had mechanical problems, this could also account for two officers being aboard the boat. sKerry was definitely the Jr officer aboard."
I went to BooksaMillion yesterday in Bradenton, FL (I'm in Sarasota) cause I heard they had it. I was looking and some guy in a suit comes in looking hurriedly around and I figured, he's looking for the same book. Sure enough, he went to the Customer Service counter and asked for his copy which he had reserved. Yesterday, I also reserved a copy since I'm leaving for, guess where John Kerry, Vietnam; my book should be there soon.
This is the last battle of the Viet Nam War, and the Vets are not about to lose it!
Actually O'Neill concerns me a bit....He says he's against Kerry, would have perferred Edwards in the primary. He's repeatedly said he's not for Bush. ...He's a democrat from way back...Supported Humphry---Gore. I'd like to know his objective>>>>is it just to get rid of Kerry or replace him with Edward/CLinton.
"I beleive these Admirals and other officers know how to wage a war and that is what we are seeing."
You got it! sKerry is probably wishing he had gone to those intel meetings he missed and studied a bit harder about Military Science and Tactics.
My gosh - I'm in bliss. YeeeeHaaaaaa!
Truth - Justice - and the American Way. And you can short change the military and get away with it (been going on forever). But don't ever lie about their honor and stab them in the back.
Nam '66-'69
Sorry, but O'Neill is a MAN....and NO self-respecting MAN would EVER vote for Edwards OR hillary for President!!
Will you be able to check out JK's photo in the museum there (Ho Chi Minh City) ?
"Actually O'Neill concerns me a bit"
O'Neill has said he does not care about the Presidency - it's Commander in Chief that he has issues with.
I tend to agree. Unfit For Command. He can be anything else he wishes - but leave our military alone. He was unfit in Nam. He sure as hell is unfit for the war we are in now.
Maybe Kerry just has a premature discharge problem.
He's also a democrat.....Very upfront about it...and supported Edwards in the primary.
"One gets the feeling that this was all planned like a military operation"
It is just desserts for an American-hating, commie, scumbag like Kerry. He spit on the Vets returning from Vietnam and called them baby killers. Now he is being exposed as the lying phoney that he is. Kerry is going to go down as one of the most pathetic candidates ever to run for the office of president.
I think AMerican in TOkyo is planning on visiting it soon.
It's not so friendly, but if this is where he got hit, I would call it a PB.
'THis is a real quote? From 1971?
It's an out and out lie, right?
And I presume covered in unfit for command???'
d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d
This is directly from the transcript from the Cavett show in 1971. I heard that smarmy freak speak it, too, altho I felt like screaming listening to that fake Bahstun accent...
I don't know if it is an outright lie; I have never read anything about it, I have never heard anyone else mention it, I have sent it around for some research and never heard about it again, and I don't have a copy of the book to see if it is in there. I don't believe it is in the book, but I am shocked no one else seems to be excited about it....
He's a MAN first....then a Democrat. My guess is that is was ANYBODY BUT KKKERRY!
>>4 months and 12 days
I think you're giving him too much credit. I've heard
O'Neill say 4 months and 2 days, and that seems about right
from what I've read...
Kerry reported in at Cam Ranh Bay at 10pm November 17th,
a Sunday night.
Kerry's last outing on any boat was March 13th, the day
he got the bruise, as well as (in the morning) the doofus
butt rice explosion.
Kerry got his transfer papers telex'ed to him on March 20th
but I think he knew beyond a doubt he would be outta there,
a few days before that... I believe he even LEFT,
(presumably to HQ to lobby for the transfer) about the 17th or 18th.
So 4 months and 2 days may be the best estimate.
Is Kerry really going to apologize for what he said in his testimony on Sunday? Is there any confirmation of this or is it just a rumor?
I can't really imagine him apologizing. When Russert asked him on MTP a few months ago, he was quite crass and mentioned he had better hair back then.
