Poll Shows Kerry Hurt By Attacks (LA TIMES POLL Bush 49% Kerry 46%)
Political Wire ^ | August 25, 2004

Posted on 08/25/2004 7:14:55 PM PDT by RWR8189

Political Wire got an advance look at the new Los Angeles Times poll showing President Bush "moving slightly" ahead of Sen. John Kerry "for the first time this year." Bush had the support of 49% of registered voters, compared to 46% for Kerry.

The newspaper's analysis indicates Kerry "has been nicked by attacks on his service in Vietnam."

The "small shift" from last month's poll "is within the poll's margin of error. But it fits with other findings in the Times Poll showing the electorate edging toward Bush over the past month on a broad range of measures, from support for his handling of Iraq to confidence in his leadership and honesty."

Independent voters split evenly, but Bush's "tentative new advantage" seems to be "his greater success at onsolidating his base. While just 3% of voters who call themselves Republicans say they will vote for Kerry, Bush is drawing 15% just over one-seventh of all Democrats, and fully one-fifth 20% of Democrats who consider themselves moderate or conservative, the poll found."

Kerry was a wash out in Nam. If he wasn't politically connected he would have spent the last 8 months of his tour managing a honey barge back in Cam Ranh Bay. What does he do? Goes back to Massachusetts to become a pinko peacenick.

HIllary will beat no one in 2008. A Bush victory will allow uncounted multitudes to beat her.

The DUmmines are going into full vapor lock mode

Really?

Well, that means it's time to get out the 'ol checkbook and send another $100 to the SwiftVets for Truth, and another $25 to Bush/Cheney2004.

After all, wouldn't want to disappoint.

My My My. WHat a pretty site this is. Kerry is so toast! This poll overpolled Democrats by 7 percent and Bush leads by 3. WE ARE LOOKING AT A REAGAN LANDSLIDE. And to think I went out to the movies tonight and missed this beautiful thing when the news broke.

I wonder what they're saying at the Democratic Underground. I wonder if they are gonna accuse the LA Times of being Republican biased.

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA

Since they only used "registered" voters and not "likely" voters, that means Bush has an even bigger lead. The LA Times is noted for their use of manipulated target voters to ensure the all important "minority" voter is factored in.

Bottom line...they did everything they could and Bush still pulled ahead.

Kerry... leadership and honesty
Hitler... pacifism and tolerance.

Gosh, that 3 per cent lead looks a little suspicious with GWB taking 20 per cent of moderate or conservative Democrats. I don't know any Democrat rank and file who don't consider themselves moderates, and consider anyone they disagree with to be extremists. ;')

Well said. And early in 2005, after George W. Bush is reelected by a margin of at least ten per cent, (': there will be a flurry of books about how Bush conducted a smear campaign that cost America a visionary leader. And later in 2005, the same flurry of books will be on the remainder table in about equal quantity (other than those in garage sales).

"I saw posted on another thread the partisan breakdown. It was 39% Dem, 32% Repub, and 29% Indy. I don't know if that's accurate."

Nationally the Dims have about a 2 percentage point lead in registered voters over the GOP. This overweights the Dims.

John Kerry lobs a rhetorical grenade at the backs of his band of brothers, when they are still fighting and dying - and then screams in outrage when they dare to show the public all the shrapnel still embedded in them.

John Kerry is truly the lowest type of scum I never would want to associate with, no matter what social strata they may affect to.

My 2 cents: Don't get mad @ me, get Glade.
------
Right now W's average approval ratings is 48.5% from last 10 polls (Dem/GOP don't count). The max W will get over his average approval rating is 0.5%.

So: If the election were held today, the approx election results would be.

W/O Nader
Bush 49.0%
Kerry 50.0%
Others 1.0%

Bush 49.0%
Kerry 49.0%
Nader 1.2%
Others 0.8%

MOE+/-1%

Isn't it fascinating that the dems thought they were soooo clever nominating a "war hero" in time of war and all they came up with was a phony war hero with phony wounds and questionable medals, who (because of his anti-war conduct) drivers other veterans CRAZY WITH RAGE. That's all they could get from their ranks, poor dopes.

Also if you look at realclearpolitics' list of state polls, W is gaining in a lot of states lately - even Mich and Maine, states most of us aren't even considering... This thing could get good in a hurry!!!

Just to correct a misunderstanding. They said that Kerry missed all the intelligence committee hearings in the year immediately following the FIRST Trade Center bombing. (not 9/11)
