"Al Jolson in October" -- Swifties have a mega-october surprise?
To the Point ^ | August 19th | Dr. Jack Wheeler

AL JOLSON IN OCTOBER
TTP Intelligence Bulletin
Dr. Jack Wheeler
Thursday, August 19, 2004

All indications are that the Swiftees’ offensive against Hanoi John is severely damaging the Kerry/Edwards candidacy. The television ads by the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth and the #1 bestseller on Amazon, Unfit For Command, have credibly assaulted the basis for Kerry’s campaign: that his self-proclaimed status as a “war hero” during 4 months in Vietnam qualify him to be President of the United States.

However… in the famous words of Al Jolson: “You ain’t heard nothin’ yet.” The Swiftees have prepared an October Surprise for Hanoi John that is going to blow his candidacy out of the water. I can’t tell you what it is, but I can tell you the television and radio ads have already been taped, and they are going to have an impact like an elephant sitting on a donkey.

The Swiftees have three things in abundance: money, brains, and balls. They know exactly how to go for the jugular, they have the dough to do it, and they are saving their best shot for last. The Democrats will not know what hit them and will not know how to retaliate. Get set folks. The Kerry Train Wreck is not going to be a pretty sight.

Sounds to me like a description of Senator Thunder Thighs :)

Could it be that Kerry's pic is on the wall in some Hanoi war memorial museum. That one is ripe for picking.

Actually that's one claim in the Swiftee's book that may be questionable. Although the picture of Kerry is apparently in a room with exhibits honoring foreigners (e.g. Soviets, Chinese, Communist parties, etc) that aided North Vietnam in winning the war, I have heard of seemingly neutral accounts noting that it's grouped with other photos that document the restoration of normal relations with America and the West in the 1990's.

This actually makes more sense to me considering the subject of the photo itself: Kerry's visit representing President Clinton's administration in '93. If they really meant to honor Kerry's antiwar agitprop, why not a photo of Kerry throwing away his(?) medals or testifying before the Senate in '71?

Not saying I generally disagree with or doubt the Swift Vets -- far from it -- but it may be best to hesitate in endorsing this one issue. (Besides, it can help in convincing undecideds if you give on an item or two.)

Jack Wheeler used to write geo-political essays for a newsletter written by Lord Rees-Moog and James Davidson. He writes some interesting stuff but I would caution everyone that all lot of his prognostications don't pan out. It would be nice if this time it did.

I thought the 529's couldn't do ads that late. I think this is bogus.

It's 527s. And although I've read the law, I'm not certain if they can or can't.

But if they can't they don't really need to. I'm sure Drudge, Hannity and others (The G-man if he's still on anywhere), will carry whatever news the Swift Vets care to release. News reports are still exempt from the law, for now at least.

But it's also old news. If there's anything to this, and O'Neil said on Rush today that more ads are coming, it'll be something new. I hope it's true.

If there is a restriction on broadcasting within 60 days of the election then you could easily send out DVD's to targeted precincts in battleground states. It would be relatively cheap to carpet bomb them with those the way AOL used to. Plus it would be unique/new this go around so most people would pop em in just to see what exaclty id in a political dvd.

"Purple Heart #4?"

That's merely speculation derived from what I wrote. We don't want the Hamster Hero to start hyperventilating over anything else which might cause him distress. He has to save up all his strength if he wants to be Commander-in-Chief!

I have to assume this "loophole" figured into the Supreme Court ruling.

I don't recall reading anything about it in the ruling. But then again I bogged down pretty badly reading that POS.

I'm not sure that the "loophole" applies to "targeted communications", which are TV, radio, or cable ads that reach at least 50,000 people in the region from which the cannidate is running, which of course is the entire country for the Presidential election. You gotta read the fine print, but you have to have a strong stomach to do it.
