All indications are that the Swiftees’ offensive against Hanoi John is severely damaging the Kerry/Edwards candidacy. The television ads by the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth and the #1 bestseller on Amazon, Unfit For Command, have credibly assaulted the basis for Kerry’s campaign: that his self-proclaimed status as a “war hero” during 4 months in Vietnam qualify him to be President of the United States.
However… in the famous words of Al Jolson: “You ain’t heard nothin’ yet.” The Swiftees have prepared an October Surprise for Hanoi John that is going to blow his candidacy out of the water. I can’t tell you what it is, but I can tell you the television and radio ads have already been taped, and they are going to have an impact like an elephant sitting on a donkey.
The Swiftees have three things in abundance: money, brains, and balls. They know exactly how to go for the jugular, they have the dough to do it, and they are saving their best shot for last. The Democrats will not know what hit them and will not know how to retaliate. Get set folks. The Kerry Train Wreck is not going to be a pretty sight.
I thought the 529's couldn't do ads that late. I think this is bogus.

Could it be that Kerry's pic is on the wall in some Hanoi war memorial museum. That one is ripe for picking.

I disagree with the statement that the 'Rats won't know how to retaliate. They will do so in the tried and true method of trash the accusers and lie through their teeth.

I may be wrong but I thought the FCC ruled that the 527's were not bound by CFR. So they can run ads right up to the election.
George Will reported yesterday that the SBVfT have a 28 minute documentary coming out the first week of Sept that will be very damaging to sKerry. Maybe this is the same thing, with some confusion about that date.

Along with pages of Kerry's FBI record showing that twice he illegally enetered into "negotiations" with the North Vietnamese government. And testimony from POW's who tell of John Kerry's words being used against them while they were POW's.

This is how the campaign finance laws deal with 527's, at least as explained by another freeper:
Under federal law, the 527 groups cannot coordinate their ads with the presidential campaigns. But if they use individual donations, rather than labor union or corporate donations, they can run ads praising or attacking a candidate right up until election day.

There is a loophole in the law, it's spelled I-N-T-E-R-N-E-T. When the CFR laws were being written, the web was not as powerful.
