Just watched an interview on Fox with Kirin Chetry (sp?) interviewing a dem and a rep. The dem's position was simplicity itself. The Bush ads are lies. Period. So are the SwiftVets. And it goes unchallenged. This guy flat out stated that, not only are the SwiftVet ads bald-faced lies, these guys were paid to do it. 'Lash for cash' was the phrase he used in one of those mnemonic rhymes they are so fond of. And it went unchallenged. Oh, one time Chetry said '...but aren't the MoveOn ads doing the same thing?' and the guy said, "Well Kirin, isn't there a distinction between the truth and lies?" Couldn't Kirin have said., "So the ad portrraying Bush as Hitler is true?" But nothing. Nothing. And, given the last word, the rep guy didn't address it or fight it either. It's disheartening.
I've got a warm spot for Kirin.
Actually, the Swift Vets are getting zip zero nada money for themselves. All proceeds from the book go to Navy Relief.
"Instead of dealing with the points reaised, Kerry has decided that the best defense is to simply call them liars and to trash the Vietnam Vets yet again."
The amazing thing about Kerry's position is his saying 'you question my word-I'm a decorated veteran.' He then proceeds to trash the Swifties, who are decorated vets. I fear the public cannot see through Kerry's duplicity. It's disheartening.
I saw this also.
What I don't understand is how anyone can say "they are all lying," and not be held accountable.
Also, the part about "Fahrenheit 911" was the truth," and not be held accountable.
There was a guy in one of my classes last semester - youngish (under 30), telling me that Bush is a crook, he lied, was not a war hero like Kerry, etc., then proceeds to tell me to "trust" him (the student), he knows, cus he TAUGHT social studies once and is well informed.
Well, gee, gosh, that clears everything up for me. I answered back to him, "well I am a lot older than you and I have lived in the real world almost twice as long as you, so "trust me," I know." ;o)
Pakistani Lanny explained this early on. They're saying the SWIFTees are lying when they say they served with Kerry, apparently because you can only say you served with someone if you served on the same boat.
Other than that, I don't recall any specific claim or defense.
I just sent my first $25 a few minutes ago. Their site must be busy, the first couple times I clicked one of the links so ably provided by many Freep Teammates, the browser simply stalled.
How much more grassroots can you get than what the Swifties are doing? Anchors Aweigh and God Bless them, every one.
W04.
Take heart. The democrat attack machine only works well when those being attacked sputter and spew - and then starts changing their story. Bush needs to stay above the fray, and not give in to the visceral reaction of throwing the attack back in the gutless pukes' faces.
The SBVT group is well able to take care of itself. Bush needs to be the adult, and to quiet the tantrum throwing dimocraps by being the true leader Bush already is. (And that Kerry wishes desperately to portray.)
React toward the idiots who spew, not toward the adults who do not.

The man was jerome Nadler (D-NY). He called the SBVs "a pack pf liars."
ED gives me a rash sometimes....Brian is the best!
LOL - I contributed yesterday, filled in all my credit card info, then clicked "Continue". Same screen came back up, so I clicked "Continue" again, did this 3-4 times, so I may have contributed 3-4 times more than I intended ;-)
The President is doing exactly what he should do. He is concentrating on Kerry's record in the Senate; something Kerry hoped we'd ignore while he was blathering on about his heroic record in Vietnam.
The other argument is between Kerry and the men with whom he served in Vietnam, and the men whose reputations he trashed when he got his quick ticket home. The President isn't involved in that, and he's staying out of it, despite the Kerry campaign's best efforts to drag him in with their calls for him to repudiate the Swift Boat Vets ad.
can't stop thinking about Hillary's comment:...."an October surprise".....
Instead, they're trying to counter these ads with ad hominum attacks against the people bearing the message. And every time they send one of their wild-eyed spittle-flecked crazies out in public, they do more damage to their cause than they can imagine, because here, lemme scream this out, THIS IS A LOSING STORY FOR KERRY NO MATTER HOW YOU SPIN IT.
I've seen some Democrats recently who seem to be coming to understand this, but most of them are just so filled with hatred for anything to the right of Noam Chomsky that they'll yell and scream impotently and want to fight over this right up until November 2.
And crazies acting like crazies is just going to drive the middle-of-the-road voter in the opposite direction.
This goes back to Marx's answer as to why the proletariat did not engage in class struggle, but spent its time trying to enter into the middle class: false consciousness. The only reason, according to Marx, that the proletariat behaves as it does is because they have been misled. They are too uneducated to know their own interests. Lenin agreed, and said that a "vanguard" is need to act on the behalf of the masses.
The Russian people had Bolsheviks, we have liberals.
Many of the Republican talking heads just don't know how to argue, and are fearful about how the press would characterize them if they did fight back. Did you catch this Rep's name? Maybe we can email some pointers to him...
After October 13, which is the date of the last debate. She can't risk having to debate Bush - he'd tear her to shreds.
Is Nadler still around? I thought the anti-obesity libs would have euthanized him long ago.
These are NOT 'Bush ads'. Doesn't anyone get it? These are ads run by a separate group of people whe are merely out to discredit Kerry and expose him for what he really is -- a lying, anti-American coward.
