Just watched an interview on Fox with Kirin Chetry (sp?) interviewing a dem and a rep. The dem's position was simplicity itself. The Bush ads are lies. Period. So are the SwiftVets. And it goes unchallenged. This guy flat out stated that, not only are the SwiftVet ads bald-faced lies, these guys were paid to do it. 'Lash for cash' was the phrase he used in one of those mnemonic rhymes they are so fond of. And it went unchallenged. Oh, one time Chetry said '...but aren't the MoveOn ads doing the same thing?' and the guy said, "Well Kirin, isn't there a distinction between the truth and lies?" Couldn't Kirin have said., "So the ad portrraying Bush as Hitler is true?" But nothing. Nothing. And, given the last word, the rep guy didn't address it or fight it either. It's disheartening.
I saw similar this morning on Fox and Friends when ED interviewed that really hyperactive female from the sKerry campaign. No challenge, no nothing - I was screaming at the TV, it was so disappointing. All my husband could muster was that at least she looks good. I guess the same goes for Kirin. Why not some harder journalism from the Fox News babes????
Kerry could settle this in ONE day. He could tell us where and how the Swift Boat vets are lying. He has not done so because he can't.
Another Kerry lie was exposed by the Boston Globe in April 2004:
The Kerry campaign removed a 20-page batch of documents yesterday from its website after The Boston Globe quoted a Navy officer who said the documents wrongly portrayed Kerry's service. Edward Peck had said he -- not Kerry -- was the skipper of Navy boat No. 94 at a time when the Kerry campaign website credited the senator with serving on the boat. The website had described Kerry's boat as being hit by rockets and said a crewmate was injured in an attack.
But Peck said those events happened when he was the skipper. The campaign did not respond to a request to explain why the records were removed.

Don't be disheartened. A Leftie at the Village Voice has come out on the attack against Kerry. Soon other Dems will be dining on Kerry as the Left eat their own.

This is their thinking in a nutshell -- what they believe is ipso facto The Truth. What Conservatives believe is ipso facto A Lie.

Instead of dealing with the points reaised, Kerry has decided that the best defense is to simply call them liars and to trash the Vietnam Vets yet again.
How could any one claim it is a lie...its just Kerry's own words coupled with Vietnam veterans reaction to his testimony before a Senate committee.
The only way to claim the ad is a lie would be for Kerry to say his testimony was a lie.
His anti-war activities have come back to haunt him!
It's about time!!!!
Whether the Swiftees are getting paid should be easy enough to determine. What the 'truth' is and the matter of lying - that's a tougher question.

Minor modification to your summary; journalists who support those views believe themselves to be "middle of the road" and thus by definition not biased. That is why it's so insidious.
I also find it appalling that an industry that is so abusive to individuals at large working in it and in support of it at the same time makes the pretense of caring/sharing by proposing massive government programs that effectively push off the "undesirables" (that would be us And the poor) so that they don't have to deal with us anymore.
Which works for them; anything they say and do is good in their narcisstic minds.
Kerry will not step down, no matter how bad it might look for him.
Every time I see another scummy attack on the character of these fine men, I send swiftvets.com another $50. I'm at $200 right now, and every dollar has been well spent.
Clinton's trash and smash tactics just barely worked for Clinton. Kerry's no Clinton, and the Swift Vets have much bigger balls then most of the people who Clinton faced.
