But the linux fanatics on FreeRepublic told me that Linux was unhackable!

What leads you to think that Fedora was hacked, or Apache?

The forums run phpBB, apparently. (When I try to connect to them, I get a phpBB error displayed.)

php and phpBB have had lots of security problems. Before concluding Fedora or Apache were where the exploit(s) were, I'd look at php and phpBB.

But then, I'm not a fanatic.

Look for vehicles in your area with moveon bumperstickers, check license tag numbers, trace back to owner find employ, phone, etc, etc.
intimidation can go both ways, but I can neither confirm of deny that.
