Okay, please don't flame me. I'm honestly interested in what freepers think about this.
Ever since Rush came back from rehab and started talking about "living a lie" and "not being able to make other people happy" and all that, I've had the uneasy feeling that Rush had "discovered" something more about himself than he was letting on.
Today, listening to Rush as he talked about his empathy for McGreevy, it seemed inevitable to wonder if Rush's empathy (and, please, if you did not hear Rush's comments, realize it's difficult to assess the tone and emotion with which he delivered them) wasn't tied back to his own "living a lie" struggles.
Yes, it would be easy to think that the "lie" was his drug addiction, but . . . I'm posting this because it really seemed as though Rush might be warming up to his own bombshell (whatever that might be).
His commentary was so passionate, in a personal, not political way, that I even wondered if he was (unconsciously) seeing if he could start a thread like this, in order to see what the speculation might be and what the reaction to that speculation might be.
Who heard Rush's opening commentary on McGreevy and what was your reaction/thoughts? Thanks. I'd be interested to know.
I listened and did not hear Rush "ragging on FReepers". Instead, I heard a lot of CLASS...as I would expect from El Rushbo.
I never thought of that.....I thought the misses was sick of his fat lying ass. Don't get me wrong--I am a mega ditto head. .

I know you despise Rush. For the most part you and I agree on most issues. Why don't you get a grip and get over your hate for Rush. When I posted this I knew you would respond. It must be nice to be perfect.
I think Rush knew what the original thread was getting at, and the intent wasn't to call his sexual orientation into question. Just that his words on the McGreedy situation sounds like he was getting in touch with his feeeeeeeelings. It's entirely understandable from someone who went through recovery, IMHO.

Hee hee. Before I became a FReeper, I got all the hot news from Rush. I still listen to the big guy, but notice more and more that I 'read it first' on FR before Rush gets to it.
I would have been more shocked to hear him say he was gay than I was with the drug addiction, and I was pretty shocked back then.
There must be something more than just having an addiction. That is sort of living a lie, yes, but it's not "who Rush is." He kept saying that at some point you have to come out and BE WHO YOU REALLY ARE. Is Rush's true identity an oxycontin addict? That can't be it.
What totally second life could Rush have? Is he actually a liberal???? ROFL. Maybe he did have an affair. Who knows. I can't imagine him gay, no matter how many snide anti-women comments he makes. I always assume his anti-women comments are meant for a specific woman who used him and did him wrong.

I got the strange feeling, while listening to Rush wish McGeevy happiness with his homosexuality, that Rush is going to make an "announcement" about himself down the road.
