[Announcer-read report over video]

[FBIS Translated Text]

Iraqi Prime Minister Dr Iyad Allawi has said that the Iraqi Government is ready to declare halt of fighting if Al-Sayyid Muqtada al-Sadr and his followers from Al-Mahdi Army announce readiness to lay down their weapons and turn into a civil organization functioning within the framework of the political process. He added that all Iraqis are invited to participate in the political process regardless of their political, religious, or ethnic backgrounds.

He added that there are bad elements who are trying to take advantage of the current situation, adding that they were behind the killing of Iraqi civilians and policemen and the attacks on the oil installations in southern Iraq. He estimated a loss of more than 60 million dollars as a result of these attacks in the last two days.[video shows Allawi speaking at a news conference]

When will the "Cease Fire....in order to resupply ammo and supplies dodge" get a little worn out over there?

Sigh.....the politically correct politicians are going to get us all killed. Sadr needs to be martyred now....not later. We all know Sadr's army will lay their arms down....yes they will....only when they are all dead.

When do you know that the bad guys are cornered and have little fight left? When they suggest a ceace fire so they can scurry down their tunnels.

What constitutes negotiations in this muslim community? Brother, the guards will not be looking at 11 PM by the south door to the Mosque, go with Allah and Peace be with you. We will tell the Americans that you escaped after you have a two hour head start.

This is truce number what? 4 ? 6? It sure isn't the first or second or third. The fat Mosqueto has used them to rearm and regenerate.

It has taken longer to get rid of al-Sadr than it to defeat Saddam Hussein---twice!!!!!

There is too much PC in dealing with this; just like there was in Fallujah.

Sure it will. Easiest thing in the world. Lay them down today, pick up new ones tomorrow.

Dont be negative folks - the operative words are

LAY DOWN ARMS

this a also known as 'surrender'.

He is saying if they surrender, that we wont kill them.

Well, fine by us, we dont operate any other way.

We have Mahdi Army holed up in a shrine.

They either surrender or they starve.
