A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up. 3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit. 4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it. 5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

I doubt you will be able to leave tomorrow, Colleen, with it looking like you'll be driving right into what is left of Charley after passing through Florida.
Imagine you'll do better to not try to leave until the next day...

Thank you so very much, friend. Actually, we here on the east coast can't complain. Looks like folks along the west coast were severely impacted, though. Our heart goes out to them, for there but for the grace of God, go we.

My cousin who lives in Orlando is alright, said she'd never been through anything like that and she's a native Floridian. She and her husband drove over to Port Orange this morning to check on her mom's (my aunt) mobile home and it was in good condition, although there was alot of damage in her community from debris.
Guess Lady's son is in the Punta Gorda area this morning. So sad for them.

I'm mad! lonestar has been occupied this past week with local politics and hasn't had much time to let me talk.
lonestar met our new re-districted congressman--Kevin Brady--yesterday and was much impressed.
Now lonestar is packing for 2 days of R & R and I'll have to be content with running things at "the bridge."
I just want to say I hope all my FReeper "aunts and uncles" have a good weekend.
"Hi" to Gert and Giz.

The Bible Stands!
Read: Joshua 6:1-5,20
By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they were encircled for seven days. Hebrews 11:30
Bible In One Year: Psalms 89-90; Romans 14
Unbelievers have long scoffed at the biblical story of the fall of the ancient city of Jericho. That's why I was delighted to see this headline on the front page of the newspaper:
NEW STUDY BACKS BIBLICAL VERSION OF JERICHO'S DEMISE
The Associated Press article began, "The walls of Jericho did come tumbling down as recounted in the Bible, according to an archaeological study." Archaeologist Bryant G. Wood of the University of Toronto said, "When we compare the archaeological evidence at Jericho with the biblical narrative describing the Israelite destruction of Jericho, we find remarkable agreement." Wood noted that the Bible places the event after spring harvest and indicates that the Israelites burned the cityboth facts confirmed by the archaeological remains. Once again, archaeology bears testimony to the truthfulness of Scripture.
Our belief in the authenticity of the Bible does not depend on scientific research but on its claim to be God's Word. As 2 Timothy 3:16 tells us, "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God." We can therefore have complete confidence in what it says.
It's a factthe walls of Jericho did indeed fall. The Bible stands! Richard De Haan
The Bible stands like a mountain towering
Far above the works of men;
Its truth by none ever was refuted,
And destroy it they never can. Lillenas

I just got off the phone with my brother Kevin and he is OK!
He said he watched the hurricane going by him and toward Orlando.
The winds at his place were hitting 80mph, lost some trees.
But the worst thing was watching the destruction and he being helpless.
I hope everyone checks in, Thanks John for your reply.

The news coming out of Punta Gorda is heartbreaking.
I haven't heard any damage reports yet from the Carolinas.....but it seems to have moved up the coast pretty fast - so maybe things are OK.
