On the 5th I posted an article title The Media is the Real Enemy - Watch Media Reaction to the Swift Boat Vets Story and be Convinced!. After observing what has happened since and in particular the performance typified by Crossfire and Hardball tonight, is there any question remaining that our primary activism objective needs to be defeating the media hegemony that nourishes the beast?
I've been involved in FReeper activism beginning way back with the March for Justice in '98. I now believe my energies have been nothing but shadow boxing. Every single action that we have undertaken against groups or individuals can trace their existence to an adoring dim media that creates them, props them up and then protects them from damage through propaganda, misdirection and lies.
I think it's time we redirect our efforts to the source that creates, sustains and drives liberalism.
Comments and suggestions?
Bob, Reagan's vote was bigger in 1980 than Carter and Anderson's put together. Give every Anderson vote to Jimmy the Weasel and the Gipper still wins it.
>>What happens if we change the textbooks?<<
Ahhh, there's so much truth in that statement! And while we're at it, maybe we could change the socialist/selfish mindset in our public schools via the NEA!
(Of course that would take about 20 years. IF we're lucky.)
But clearly, GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS ARE RUINING OUR CHILDREN'S MINDS.
Hmmmm. That's interesting since Reagan won with only 47% of the vote, if I'm not mistaken.
Agreed. We need to get the real information out to the public more than we do now. And we need to keep challenging and embarrassing these liberal outlets and discrediting their "news".
The liberal media machine is truly our biggest obstacle, in my opinion, and won't begin to die until much more of the public walks away from them. We have to make that happen before America will have a safe and secure future.
Who, or what, is the RLC?
Now you're thinking BIG! THANK YOU!
You are correct, Reagan won 50.6% of the vote.
Too many believe the media to be a impervious monolith. They can be had.
LOL - Yeah, I've been thinking. It all pretty much stinks. Kids are being brainwashed in government schools, 38 % of voters cannot name the vice president, graft and corruption is predictable on a massive scale, and once one of those socialists is elected, they have their position for life.
Other than that, everything is just peachy. :-/
Ya, it stinks. But it ain't going to get any rosier by us standing around.
Can't argue with that. Yet, as Bob stated, we have the 'cheerleaders' to thank for this mess too. Other than Ann Coulter, I can think of few on the Right who'd look good in a skirt while championing the ideals of maximum individual liberty and limited government.
Would be great, but the universities all buy the same leftist tripe.
Gotcha...thanks for filling me in! Man...you can't miss one night a news these days without feeling like you're falling way behind!
Could that be because all they hire is leftist tripe, with the exceptional token conservative so they can point to their commitment to diversity?
"bring them to their knees for much less"
I'm all ears .. what do you suggest ..??
A two party system works in our favor. Each peddles to the middle to win so all one has to do is move the middle in their direction to change the culture.
That is ~not~ how the systems been working Bob. Each faction has indeed been peddling socialism to the middle. -- And that's why we conservatives are in big trouble.
Who decides the middle? We conservatives are in trouble because we sat idly by while the left captured the means of disinformation dissemination and molding the minds of youth....the media and our educational system.
I agree, losing those systems was a big mistake. -- One that can be corrected. -- And is being corrected, gradually, -- by sites like FR.
But giving blind support to the GOP's same old empty rhetoric is a loOsing proposition, imho. Always has been.
That same old bull could cost them this election..
They've got 82 days to pull a rabbit out of the hat. More cheerleading at FR won't change that fact.
IMHO, we're all running in hundreds of directions, trying to put out hundreds of brush fires. FR needs direction. FR is big enough now that we can make some lasting impressions.
I'd love to see some headlines formatted on FR - Talking Points laid out clearly on all the topics we cover here. Permanent threads that are easily found by everyone. Such as, Swift Boat FACTS, Social Security FACTS, Lists of lies from pols, Ntl Debt Facts, etc.
So many FReepers are such great researchers, but unless you happen across their information in a thread, the information is lost and you miss it.
Here is my idea on how to insure a conservative ascendancy in the new millenium.
Balance the Media - De-fund the Left - Balance Ideology in Education
You hit it on the head. We run around putting out brush fires while the enemy is pouring gasoline on the next field.
I don't agree. I would watch it in a heartbeat. I'm so sick of seeing the same liberal creeps on FOX spewing the same stuff every time. It's boring.
