Why didn't the DNC consider this possibility when they nominated the two Johns?
When you have two guys named 'John' so full of BS....it is just too temping to resist.
I understand that this display is in the front yard of a house on Rte 38 in Racine County, Wisconsin.

National Lampoon--the guys who did an ad parody in the 70s
that said "If Ted Kennedy Had Been Driving a Volkswagen
[it floats], He's Be President Today" :P

Oh, my my my! The National Lampoon! I once had a "Best Of" softcover from the late 70's, and it was some of the funniest stuff I ever got my hands on.
My favorite part was a parody of the Boy Scouts' magazine "Boys' Life", called "Boys' Real Life". It was an absolute scream, especially considering that I was 13 at the time, and a Boy Scout.
Also, the Lampoon was a big influence on the style of comedy I did for the comics (and later, animation) that I've done over the years.
Cheers to you, Sir!

Remember the "Best of National Lampoon" issue, with salty old editor telling the crestfallen young writer at his desk, "Sorry kid, it's just not good enough for "The Best of The National Lampoon.""? C. 1978 or so.
I was actually the young man in that cover. Oh how I wish to have been P.J. O'Rourke, but I'm just not that good, not even close.
Fortunately, though, you've come to the right place. There is some true talent here.

I heard about your site on FR, yesterday I think it was. Hilarious! I immediately sent an email out to all on my list to let them know about it.
I enjoy political satire, and am glad to see someone taking the initiative to give equal time to us Conservatives! Although I don't watch Leno or Letterman anymore, from what I hear there are about 10-1 in jokes about President Bush as opposed to Kerry.
Same as the show on Comedy Central, with Jon what's his name. I used to watch that show, but they are so incredibly biased against Republicans and President Bush, and virtually give Kerry a pass. What an opportunity they are missing, with Kerry and all of his gaffes!!!!!

Tip o' the hat for one of the all-time great magazines. Where's the justice in this world when bore-fests like Time and Newsweek are still around?

Hopefully, somone else remembers the NatLamp High School yearbook parody. It was released during their early, funny years and it is maybe the funniest magazine I've ever read. PJ makes an appearance as do many of the characters that would later reappear in the movie Animal House. YES!!!
My husband & I just picked up the Animal House DVD, the double-secret probation addition, and watched it last night. I was pointing out all the things I remembered from National Lampoon magazine, especially the yearbook. Larry Kroger, Fawn Liebowitz, all made their appearance there first.
Do you remember the story that eventually became "National Lampoon's Vacation"? It started out something like "It was a good vacation till we shot Walt Disney in the leg"
The "Negligent Mother" cover was priceless. So sick & oh so funny.!!!!! Wonder if I still have my old copies.

PJ makes an appearance as do many of the characters that would later reappear in the movie Animal House. That parody was so jam packed with funniness (Is that a word?) you could pick up on new stuff you never noticed before on the 10th or 12th time you read it.I would LOVE to find another copy of that. I haven't read or seen one in decades!
BTW, the University of Missouri at Kansas City basketball team is The Kangaroos!
