Catholic League president William Donohue commented today on the remarks made about President George W. Bush that are featured on the website of Catholics for Kerry 04:
The home page of Catholics for Kerry 04 prominently lists comments by Wayne Madsden, who says, George W. Bushs blood lust, his repeated commitment to Christian beliefs and his constant references to evil doers, in the eyes of many devout Catholic leaders, bear all the hallmarks of the one warned about in the Book of Revelationsthe anti-Christ. He also charges that Bush couples his political fanaticism with a neo-Christian blood cult.
This is the language of a demagogue, and it has no legitimate role to play in presidential politics. It is important to note that it is not the position of the Catholic League that the Kerry camp should be held responsible for this group of wacko Catholics. But at the same time, it shows how hypocritical the operatives in the Kerry camp really are.
For example, it is reported by the Associated Press today that Kerry spokesman Chad Clanton is demanding that President Bush condemn a book about John Kerrys alleged fraudulent behavior in Vietnam, Unfit for Command. Why? Simply because one of authors made anti-Catholic remarks in a chat room last year (for which he has apologized).
Now according to the logic of the Kerry campaign, it would seem only proper that John Kerry should condemn Catholics for Kerry 04: surely the nexus is tighter in this case than in the chat room quip. Indeed, this Catholic-Kerry website provides a direct link to Contribute to Kerry Online, the official donation section of the Kerry-Edwards website.
The subject of religion has been giving Kerry and the Dems fits lately. We hope their recent discovery of anti-Catholicism, however strained, suggests a new beginning. They can start by hiring a new religious outreach person who doesnt cavort with anti-Catholics.
The Antichrist is supposed to be universally adored except Christians. But we see a large number of people who are not Christians hate Bush. End of story.
But I know a thing or two from Chinese-speaking Christians. Some of them are openly proclaiming that God is to judge the United States because of the sins of abortion, porn, gay rights, drugs, immorality, imperialism, war on Iraq, waging wars, nationalism [American patriotism], liberty and democracy, capitalism, and international haegemony. A whole mix of conservative and liberal indictments for an average American!
Pope fears Bush is antichrist, journalist contends - Church - journalist Wayne Madsden

New Catholic Times, May 18, 2003
WASHINGTON DC -- According to freelance journalist Wayne Madsden, "George W Bush's blood lust, his repeated commitment to Christian beliefs and his constant references to 'evil doers,' in the eyes of many devout Catholic leaders, bear all the hallmarks of the one warned about in the Book of Revelations--the anti-Christ."
Madsen, a Washington-based writer and columnist, who often writes for Counterpunch, says that people close to the pope claim that amid these concerns, the pontiff wishes he was younger and in better health to confront the possibility that Bush may represent the person prophesized in Revelations. John Paul II has always believed the world was on the precipice of the final confrontation between Good and Evil as foretold in the New Testament.
Before he became pope, Karol Cardinal Wojtyla said, "We are now standing in the face of the greatest historical confrontation humanity has gone through. I do not think that wide circles of the American society or wide circles of the Christian community realize this fully. We are now facing the final confrontation between the church and the anti-Church, of the Gospel versus the anti-Gospel."
The pope worked tirelessly to convince leaders of nations on the UN Security Council to oppose Bush's war resolution on Iraq. Vatican sources claim they had not seen the pope more animated and determined since he fell ill to Parkinson's Disease. In the end, the pope did convince the leaders of Mexico, Chile, Cameroon and Guinea to oppose the U.S. resolution.
Madsen contends that "Bush is a dangerous right-wing ideologue who couples his political fanaticism with a neo-Christian blood cult."

Considering that most even mainstream conservative Catholics don't believe in an "antichrist" or that the "Apocalypse" contains any prophecy of the future, the use of such language by radical leftwing Catholics is doubly hypocritical.
Also, JBK...
Neo-"everything" seems to be the current mantra chanted by leftists. First we had "neo-cons" and now "neo-Christians". What's next?
Catholic League President William Donohue defames Catholics for Kerry.
Our response to William Donohues Press Release below.
It is obvious that Catholic League President William Donohue spent little time on CatholicsforKerry04.org. He first charges that we have our article "prominently" listed on our home page when in fact it is almost half way down the page far from the sites headlines and pertinent Catholic Issues in an area concerning President Bush. Until the article by Mr. Donohue, the link barely registered on our site statistics. Issues important to Catholics at the top of the page are certainly more popular. Mr. Donohue obviously missed our disclaimers on our site as well. The article we posted was written over a year ago and was originally released on a Catholic Web Site and is not our view or those of Senator Kerrys. It is simply a point of view we considered important for Catholics to be aware of.
Mr. Donohue goes on to label us as "wacko Catholics". We found this quite interesting when reviewed his organizations web site and found this below the press release concerning our link. "The Catholic League is the nation's largest Catholic civil rights organization. It defends individual Catholics and the institutional Church from defamation and discrimination." Apparently Mr. Donohue picks and chooses which Catholics to defend and which ones to defame. When we started this site, we expected some disagreement from other Catholics, but we did not expect such a vicious attack from a fellow Catholic. It is very disturbing and disappointing.
Mr. Donohue goes on to label us as "operatives" in the Kerry camp. Apparently he missed the About Catholics for Kerry 04" section that is "prominently" displayed in the top middle of our home page.
Apparently it is ok for people including President Bush to apologize for Anti Catholic remarks and actions, but in Mr. Donohues eyes it is not ok for people of faith to have a different view than his.
We find it interesting that Mr. Donohue refers to the Kerry Campaigns Religious Outreach Representative as "cavorting" with Anti Catholics while in the same article he condones people who are blatant Anti Catholics simply because they "apologized".
If we are contrite and apologize to Mr. Donohue in regards to our web site, will he then condone us as well?
This Madsen guy just wants to create a rift between Catholics and Christians, he wants us to regurgitate the things that make protestants not like catholicism such as repeating prayers and idol worship, not to mention the fact that some believe that Catholicism is the one world religion mention in prophecy, if we take the translation of catholic to mean universal church.
You know it. The Catholic League is not sanctioned by the Church. They are whacked.
I am Catholic and they are about as Catholic as Kerry is... which is not very!
Oh sure. And FnKerry believes in abortion, and the President is the ANTI-CHRIST? Right!
