Jerry Kohn is with the Libertarian Party.

How many voters will confuse this man for the Frenchurian Candidate?

the way to win this (or have a chance):

Keyes doesn't run against Obama, he runs a national campaign against the Democrats. The same way Kerry beat Weld for Seante in Mass - he started running against Newt Gingrich, and he won.

"Let's give (Keyes) a chance to talk to the voters of Illinois before taking another poll."

What he said.

Only 33 percent unfavorable. That's not bad after the hatchet job the Chicago Tribune and other dim media outlets have been doing on Keyes. Granted, his candidacy is a Hail Mary pass, but sometimes Hail Mary passes connect. In any case, Obama doesn't get a free ride to his coronation.

I think Keyes can take him in a debate, although Obama is smooth. It will be linguistic duel.

evidently IL doesnt have anyone to run, so they have to import a guy. I dislike carpetbaggers as much as the next guy but hey, i am from MA and our gov. Mitt is a carpetbagger and he is doing a pretty good job.

though it brings up a valid point, what if Illinois goes to war with maryland! what side will alan choose?!?!?

Illinois Voters Say No Thanks To Keyes

Gee - the voting is already over?

That was fast.

What's the margin of error for an unbiased sample of 500? 6%? 10%? Anyone want to do the math?

Wow. Here's another thing. The question they asked was whether or not they thought it was appropriate, not who the people would vote for. There are plenty of posters just here on FR who think the selection is "inappropriate" (mainly because of the Illinois GOP's ineptitude at fielding a local candidate), but would vote for Keyes, anyway.

Just one more reason to hate polls.

Funny, there was not a single story in the LiberalNazi mainstream media complaining about that evil carepetbagger Hillary Clinton, riding into town to seize the New York Senatorial seat because her nationwide research polls told her that we New Yorkers were the most moronic voters in the USA.

Some Republican leaders are preparing to welcome Alan Keyes to Illinois this Sunday with a rally in northwest suburban Arlington Heights. Others are speaking out about the drawbacks of a candidate who's never lived in the Prairie State, no matter how good a debater he may be.

Go, Alan, Go!

After all if an Arkansas resident can fly into NY on a broom and become Senator, don't discount your chances in Illinois.

Jimmy Breslin has already written a book about the 2004 Republican Party:

When we asked 500 adults

Not likely voters or even registered voters. Okay to stew it down, 500 adults means about 320 registered voters and about 260 likely voters. If he got a 25% favorable rating, that isn't too bad.

A question.... if you know.

Does Illinois register voters by Party? If so what is the percentages for each, D, R, I, etc. If not do you know how the state has broken out percentage wise in statewide races such as Senator, Gov. by Party affiliation when voting. I'm assuming the democrats lead but don't know for sure.

Thanks for any info you can share.

It would have been an uphill fight anyway. And you know the liberal media in Illinois will be pounding the "carpet-bagger" drum in a way that was suspiciously absent with Queen Smellery in NY.

The least you Republicans in IL can do is not carry their water for them....

This is not about winning the race against Obama. That will not happen.

This is about putting someone on the ticket running to strengthen the rest of the ballot.

Also it will stop the dims from having a pass straight to the Senate. In other words spending money that could go elswhere.

The GOP knows the battle is lost but not to show up would be perceived as weakness and that dirty tricks pay off.

Dan Rather's network says the Republican doesn't stand a chance.

What a surprise.
