John Kerry's heavily hyped cross-country bus tour stumbled out of the blocks yesterday, as a group of Marines publicly dissed the Vietnam War hero in the middle of a crowded restaurant.
Kerry was treating running mate Sen. John Edwards and his wife, Elizabeth, to a Wendy's lunch in Newburgh, N.Y., for their 27th wedding anniversary an Edwards family tradition when the candidate approached four Marines and asked them questions.
The Marines two in uniform and two off-duty were polite but curt while chatting with Kerry, answering most of his questions with a "yes, sir" or "no, sir."
But they turned downright nasty after the Massachusetts senator thanked them "for their service" and left.
"He imposed on us and I disagree with him coming over here shaking our hands," one Marine said, adding, "I'm 100 percent against [him]."

Uh, because it's probably total BS, that's why.
The story says they answered "yes sir", etc., while he was there and then supposedly said negative things about him AFTER HE LEFT.
No names, no ranks, no nothing. This is the same thing as the ongoing thread about the terrorist being captured on the Iraqi border.
BS!
Of course, that's just my opinion. Cheers!
What struck me about the photo is that Kerry is not looking the Marine in the eye. OTOH, the Marine is intently looking Kerry in the eye.
Has anyone else noticed that Kerry's eyes look dead? Lord knows, we've seen his mug so much lately.
hohum......Wendy customers are the best. lol
You know, for all his fancy upbringing, this man was apparently never taught that pointing is rude.
I think CNN played it on their channel.
The headline on this thread is misleading. The NY POST headline says "Dems Marine Misfire". The bottom line to the story is that Hanoi John decided to get some free 'military support' and portray that he he cares about the military, by intruding on these guys lunch.
I am sure that since they don't support him, it pissed them off, but they still conducted themselves with decorum. However, they knew he was taking advantage of them and made it known that they don't support the TRAITOR. I am proud to share the title of Marine with these fine young men!
Fox News? If it's not a pretty white girl missing with husband as the prime suspect, it goes to the bottom of the list of important topics.
Fox News leans conservative, which is a welcomed relief, but their news broadcasting style and what they consider important news needs allot of help. And Get rid of Greta!
In other words, ditto on the digit.
I can't imagine being in uniform and being confronted by the likes of Kerry as a contender for the title of "Commander in Chief."
The one standing is thinking, "Just touch me,you lying scum traitor. You touch me and Ill deck you so hard & fast, youll be putting in for a 4th Purple Heart.
LOL yep I think you're right.
is Fox News supposed to be a conservative news channel or fair and balanced? I don't turn to stone whenever O'reilly disagrees with Bush
The fact that the second Marine is sitting down tells us a little about this situation. When being addressed by a senior officer or elected official, it is a matter of USMC courtesy to stand respectfully in their presence. The sitting Marine either does not know that...or he is just dissing Kerry.
The standing Sergeant does indeed look a bit miffed and intimidated. And it is rude for Kerry to be pointing that digit at the Sergeant. He certainly has that "do you know who I am look on his face".
take away Brit Hume and Hannity - and you've got CNN lite. do you see any "non mainstream" coverage on FNC? did they show any of the beheading videos? did they provide any coverage of Abu Ghraib that wasn't exactly like everyone elses? Joe Wilson was totally discredited, have you seen any coverage on FNC that goes directly to that point? The fellow who made that documentary about the Iraqi men who has their hands removed by Saddam, tried to contract with Fox to air it - no dice.
Here's a little tidbit:
Military personnel do not lose all of their political rights, but they are NOT allowed to attend political functions in uniform, to avoid the appearance of endorsement by the military of one candidate.
For Kerry to try to wrap himself with the military is an abuse of that military person. It is forcing him to take part in a campaign event without permission.
This is totally different from the President doing the same thing: That is his right as Commander in Chief. Yeah - the incumbent gets the breaks, but that's the system.
I admire the Marines' composure. I, being ex-military, would have no such qualms about telling Kerry just exactly where to get off.
Yeah, he totally imposed himself on these Marines for a photo op, and he had a lot of gall doing so considering all that geeky back stabber has done so far is to do and say everything to destroy their moral. I can`t even imagine what it would be like to serve under that commie SOB. It was bad enough with Clinton, but even Clinton didn`t go around and call the military "baby killers" or fraternize with the enemy. If Kerry wins, it would literally be like Jane Fonda as Commander in Chief. My God, what a nightmare if this idiot wins, but I can`t believe the majorty of Americans would be that stupid. I think Bush is going to win because of three reasons; #1 As we get closer and closer to the election, Kerry is going to melt more and more everyday as his facade is exposed. Not just his history, but his personality defects as well of which he is doing a tremdous job of showing to the public almost everyday. #2 Then you have the debates in which Bush will destroy him not only by logic (remember, liberals have no logic), but personality wise as well. Remember, a LOT of people got turned off by Gores huge ego, his rolling of his eyes in the debates. Kerry is just as fat headed if not more so. Bush acts like an everyday guy which is what the average person relates to. #3. The Repub convention is closer to the election than the Rat one, and that will be fresher in their minds of the independents and undecided than the Rat one which was a total disaster in my opinion.
I hope I am right about all this, I think I am though. I just can`t see Kerry winning. If so, this country is in a LOT of trouble! No so much of the fact that Kerry won, but the fact that so many people would so stupid to elect him over Bush. 4 of my friends at work are Democrats and they absolutely refuse to elect Kerry, which to me says a lot!
I wish he'd try this on some Marines without control. I think "deck you so fast" might actually be a slight understatement.
