"My wife kept asking me "Where does this guy think the money is going to come from?" over and over and over. I suspect millions of other Americans did the same. You're kidding right? "Millions of Americans"? Only those who are political junkies were even watching the thing."
"Hello, my name is Badeye, and I'm a political junkie."
(group - "HI BADEYE!)
LOL!
Kerry tried in innoculate himself against his own voting record.....its not going to work. Cause as we know he "voted for it before he voted against it".
It was a great Hollywood line. Anybody remember Men in Black, Will Smith in the chair with the military grads and soldiers? And he mockingly salutes 'Captain America'.
Kerry wasn't so much playing 'Captain America', but rather the cynical 'hero'.
Film plus salute = Andy Griffith in "No Time For Sergeants"
Even more if and when someone puts it to the voice of, Daffy Duck. And this takes on an almost 'Mr. Rogers' quality, striking fear into international terrorism wherever it may be found:
I'm John Kerry.
And I'm reporting for duty.
There's no mystery here. Max Cleland fell in love with his own voice and ate up about 5 minutes of Kerry's 55. After that it was a race to catch up (or Ketchup). Kerry was never able to establish a tempo for the applause pauses, got all flustered and started sweating, and zoomed through the speech til about 3/4 way through when someone apparantly told him he was back on schedule. Blame that chuckleheaded egotist, Max Cleland.
FFL stands for "French Foreign Legion".
Take from that what you will.
CA....
Bump!
Did you notice in that movie that when it was mentioned that he came home from Vietnam, it NEVER MENTIONED HIS DISSENT OF THE WAR OR HIS TRASHING OF HIS FELLOW VETERANS? It went straight from Vietnam to his law practice.
I'm not exactly sure he ever DID learn how to salute properly...;-D
"Like grass through a goose" ROFL! He did, indeed!
I wasn't impressed. ;-D
I think it was the same guy who did the balloon thingie. ROFL!!!
"I'm John Kerry and I'm reporting for duty"? HAH! If this is anything like his Vietnam service, he'll do everything he can to get out of it within the next 4 months. ;)
I live in Boston, and I do not read the Globe as carefully or as regularly as I used to. I will say that with one exception, I have never once been able to read completely a column by Oliphant.
He is in my view a wierdo, and I have come to learn that he is also a pompous pseudo-intellctual liberal. There is nothing that he has to say which interests me, but I am pleased that he is critical of Kerry.
What thinking person wouldn't be?
Don't slander Peggy like that. If she had written the speach there would have been about 1/3 as many words and it would have been about something that we care about, and we would not have missed the point. If Kerry had a point, other than he served in Vietnam, I sure missed it.
His own polling tells him he's got a problem. He dared not mention what he yearns for: (1) killing babies, (2) grabbing guns, and (3) enforcing nonmerit preferences. I read a K-flopper request for campaign funds letter today, mailed to arive the dau after the convention. Didn't mention the evil triad above at all!
