Rushed speech, lost opportunity [Dem rump-swab trashes speech]

FOR REASONS he might like to explain, John Kerry last night raced through an acceptance speech that was way too long for a time slot he knew about for weeks.
Desperate to stay within the broadcast networks' paltry 60 minutes, Kerry stepped on his best thoughts and lines and blurred important proposals and distinctions, committing the sin of interfering with his own ability to communicate with an electorate eager to learn much more about President Bush's opponent. At a Democratic convention planned to showcase a candidate and his basic approach to two huge situations -- a bogged-down military adventure in Iraq and a fragile economy -- Kerry obscured his presentation in a blizzard of hard-to-follow verbiage dictated by the clock.

...the speech remained roughly 20 minutes too long despite a process of thinking, writing, and editing that had been going on in earnest at least since his selection of Edwards on July 6.What a buffoon. I bet he was writing with a lump of coal on the back of a shovel! Legal pad?! Hasn't this idiot ever heard of a keyboard?!

Oliphant is upset it read it TOOOOOOO SLOW
BECAUSE HE COULD NEVER CRITICIZE HIS DAUGHTER'S SPEECH.

Excellent post, thank you!
After that first line, "I'm John Kerry and I'm....REPORTING FOR DUTY!) I have decided to call them "Lieutenant Doody and his rich wife Tizzy.
He talked too fast, he sweated too much, he went on too long, the audience reaction fell off until, at the end, like his wife's speech, people were just glad it was done. I just don't see the dems very enthusiastic about this guy.

Make no mistake guys. That was a brutal review from Oliphant. He's a liberal intellectual who is always in the tank for the democrats.

The Hitlery 2008 campaign has just begun.I judged the speech on Hillary's reaction.
She looked quite happy after the speech.
If she had looked sad, I'd be worried.
The problem with Kerry's speech is that he spoke so fast and included so many empty platitudes that nobody will remember the meat of the text except for "I'm John Kerry and I'm reporting for duty"

Kerry could bland down any speech.
The man just is not a motivating personality zero on charisma.
Blaming the time allocated???
Idiocy.
Face it, he isn't lovable. Democrats only thought him their best chance of the few unknowns and backbenchers that showed up to campaign for the nomination. Lieberman would have been the best, but he is far too sensible on many issues to appeal to those knaves that dominate the candidate selection process.

There were plenty of others too.

there will be a new attorney general, no assaults on the Constitution, and no partisan use of the American flag. Well, except for those parts of the Constitution they don't like, such as that pesky Bill of Rights thingie. But yeah, the part of the Constitution that guarantees free handouts and partial birth abortions, they won't touch that. No worries there.

Man - that was JF'ings Dukakis Tank Pilot moment!!! He doesn't even need the goofy helmet to look foolish. Compared to W - and the voters will definitely get to compare them as supporters of the Defense programs and defenders of the country - "John" will always come across as a Massachussetts, Liberal, Girlyman, Weenie.

"He talked too fast, he sweated too much, ... "I picked up on that ( as so many did here ) and, always trying to be someone of wisdom by analysis, I tried to imagine what would make bunny-boy do that on what is/was the most important time of his life
and I came up with ...
way up in the upper balconies ... roped off that none could/would know what was present ....
a lone observer, padded case at his feet, opened ... it's contents no longer in their protected place(s) ...

NYTimes, thumbs down
Washington Post, thumbs down
Boston Globe, thumbs down
CNN commentators Wednesday nite were highly critical of Edwards' speech.
We see a pattern developing. The liberal press and some broadcast media seem to be turning away from Kerry. [Hillary directive?]
Of course, the dem analysts this morning are gushing all over themselves at the speech. [What else can they really say?]

I, personally, think that he rushed because he thought by speaking fast he could substitute quantity for quality.
Also by speaking fast, he thought he might seen less boring and more passionate.
Too bad it didn't work.

It was a beautiful night to be a Republican. From the salute to the balloons, Kerry choked hard. His finest moment and he couldn't handle it. The bases were loaded, all he had to do was lean into the pitch and take his base. He fell down instead. The networks also made the convention memorable for Republicans by not covering the Dems best speaker, Obama, and having the balloon guy miked-up like on Monday Night Football for some selected profanities when they didn't come down on time. Classic stuff. The convention couldn't have played out any better if a Republican had planned it. Here are some of my favorite moments
We'll tax the evil rich
we'll let poor people out of jail
we'll get you doctors
VALUES!!!!!
I have a website and FDR didn't
bring on the balloons, where the f--- are the balloons
The Dems are so out of touch they've got Estrich talking about how good the speech was. Should she really be talking after the spacesuit pics, that reminded everyone of Dukakis in the tank that she allowed to be photographed when she was his campaign manager?
And the embassy bomber was caught this week. A good week all around for the GOP. Four more years of Bush and Cheney. Kerry needs to keep talking, possibly he will choke some more.

(So much for his trying to claim the title of the "science and technology candidate", eh?)
