FOR REASONS he might like to explain, John Kerry last night raced through an acceptance speech that was way too long for a time slot he knew about for weeks.
Desperate to stay within the broadcast networks' paltry 60 minutes, Kerry stepped on his best thoughts and lines and blurred important proposals and distinctions, committing the sin of interfering with his own ability to communicate with an electorate eager to learn much more about President Bush's opponent. At a Democratic convention planned to showcase a candidate and his basic approach to two huge situations -- a bogged-down military adventure in Iraq and a fragile economy -- Kerry obscured his presentation in a blizzard of hard-to-follow verbiage dictated by the clock.

You are so right.
He went through that speech like grass through a goose. It was funny watching Andrea Mitchell last night. She kept saying, "It's about the WORDS, not the delivery." (paraphrased)
Kerry is RUNNING from his liberal past and is masquarading as a Republican - what a hoot.
And his daughter thinks he has integrty, sheesh.
Laws of the Jungle:
If you can't sing good --- sing loud (i.e. rap singers)
If you can't speak clearly ---- speak swiftly (i.e. Kerrwards)

The only thing I could think about as I watched Kerry speak was about how much his face was sweating. It looked like his face was about to melt off, Raiders of the Lost Ark style.
My sister, who is a journalism student at Michigan State and by no means a conservative, replied "I know what you mean" when I brought that up.
Whoever was in charge of lighting is going to pay big time. I wonder if any of the pundits (or Rush tomorrow) will pick up on it.
Lieberman is Jewish. Yeah, I know, but let's put aside the PC rhetoric and face the fact that the taliban wing of the democrat party is not really tolerant enough to accept that. Might lose them the CAIR vote, don'tcha know.
I also think that for a jewish person to overcome the bigotry that's out there they would have to have an incredible amount of charisma, which Lieberman obviously doesn't.
Personally I'd like to see Lieberman as SecState so he could get in their faces.
My take is that Kerry knows he is a wooden speaker and realized he had to show some passion and fire to connect. Unfortunately many people who are poor public speakers equate a faster louder delivery as a more convincing delivery. The classic sterotype of this is the revival meeting preacher. (think Al Sharpton). Unfortunately this is not the case. At least not in politics. A good stumnp speech requires the ability to emote a full range of emotions from fire, to sorrow, to chagrin, to determination to optomism, occasionally throwing in the pregnant pause for effect. (think Reagan) Kerry just did the fast loud thing, got the flop sweat going and tanked.
Mama Tizzy -- sounds like she was in a tizzy last night!
Take a gander at this:

It is probably under copyright, but it might be available.
There also was a busty blond that provided me with much enjoyment during my pubescent years.
That had better be a shot at the previous resident of the White House and not the current one...
Someone at NRO had the good humor to point out that the daughter's recollection of JF'nK jumping in the water to save the hamster made Ted Kennedy look very uncomfortable.
I think it was the constant licking of the bottom lip that was the most disgusting trait... always connotes a liar, too.
Yes!!!! have 4 boys, know that motion real well!! Couldn't believe that sKerry was doing it. Didn't he think about going before he got on stage???
Forgive my ignorance but what is an FFL salute?
I must disgree. His "reporting for duty" was a joke. It is the one ad-lib he had, and that will prove to hurt him more than help him.
I believe the Manchurian Candidate was a brand new movie and recent best-seller about the time that picture was taken. Kinda makes ya go "Hmmmm."
Or hack. And with all this praise being heaped on Kerry, one has to wonder - where's the bump?
They kept talking about these silly polls, and 'bumps', and what happens after conventions. Fritz Mondale, last night on PBS, to Shields and Brooks, was talking about the 15-20 point change in the polls that he received following his convention.
I wonder if Kerry is going in the other direction? Not to fear, John Kerry can still be 'introduced to the American people' at the debates. There's still time.
