I just heard on the radio news that Sandy Berger has been cleared of any wrongdoing. Apparently the National Archives is saying that all documents have been accounted for. Has anyone else heard this? And no, this should not be posted under humor! I'm serious, I really did hear this on the morning news just now. WMAL 6:30 here in Washington, D.C., the Fred Gandy Show.
LOL! Trust me. If Fred Grandy and Susan Collins were married to each other they would have nothing to argue about.
They could do a "Love Boat" sequel.
And what happens if the DNC holds sway after the election?
There are two parts to this: one is whether he withheld things from the commission. (This does not, of course, cover the fact that he may have ADDED things to the documents which were given to the commission.)
The second part is whether he broke security laws by removing the documents. This is beyond dispute; he has already confessed to doing so.
Virtually everything Clinton did was criminal in nature.
Look at it this way. If, God forbid, 43 loses, they can still charge Berger and co. and leave Hamster Breath with a judicial and political nightmare to deal with upon taking the oath.
And given what you have to do in order to get access to docs this secret, the inadvertance defense won't wash, either.
Which is what makes this story so interesting. I still want to know if Berger's motive was to remove copies because the originals had been altered. (P.S. Things like this actually happen in real life.)
Unfortunately I don't have a subscription either. I'm hoping someone on this thread does and would use the link and get back on this.
Gandy was not a staunch conservative. He was a girlyman dipstick who redmeat Republicans can be happy is quit of the House of Representatives.
Comments from the 9/11 commission that they think he didn't withhold anything and comments from the Archives that all items have been returned (nevermind about the ones he ADMITS to "inadvertently discarding") do not constitute clearing him of all charges.
The Federal labor rules protect the "we were here first" crowd. It takes more than four years to root them out. There is a very large cohort reaching retirement age in the next four years.
Ted Kennedy told the Democrat National Convention: "The only thing we have to Fear is Four More Years of George W Bush!" Lets make their worst fears come true.
Yes, they do happen. BTW, I read that other copies of some of the documents had been obtained from the Clinton Library when investigators were trying to figure out what had happened. So it appears that there was another set of these documents (or at least some of them).
I'll bet 900 FBI files that this quietly goes away.
If you rob a bank, get caught, and then give the money back are you no longer a bank robber?
