BOSTON The Kerry campaign smells a rat in the widely circulated snapshot that shows its man wrapped head-to-toe in a baby blue outfit.
"This was a leaked photo," Mary Beth Cahill (search), campaign manager for John Kerry, said an interview with FOX News on Tuesday.
No media photographers were in attendance Monday when Kerry toured a facility at the Kennedy Space Center with famed astronaut John Glenn and Sen. Bill Nelson of Florida. All the men wore anti-contamination suits (search).
Asked by FOX News' Brit Hume if a dirty trick was being played, Cahill didn't answer the question directly but said: "What do you think?"
"This was a legitimate tour of a NASA facility and this photograph came out of absolutely nowhere. We were surprised then. We aren't surprised now."

funny how the spin changes as the day goes on. this morning it was how great kerry looks and at least he wasn't bush in his flight suit.
from the new york post..."But Democrats were not concerned.
"The brilliant Republicans who put George Bush in a flight suit to strut around an aircraft carrier won't get very far giving advice to NASA about the kinds of coveralls to wear," said Kerry campaign spokesman David Wade.
roflmao... !!
Kerry being filled with crap, before his speech.
Never happen. The 'Rats are gonna have to shoot her with a tranquilizer dart on live national TV long before she'll have a chance.
The only thing more preposterous than a "Kerry-Edwards" administraion would be the apparatchiks working for it.
Well, to be completely fair, Kerry has about as much chance of winning Brevard County (where KSC is located) as I do of winning the lottery. And Nelson and Glenn are loyal Rats first, loyal NASA guys a far distant second.
Having said that, all this crying does make Kerry look like a whiny little girl.
Well, since the MSM is never going to change, what we are witnessing is how their partiality can be used against them. They will accuse this of being wrong because it was "leaked". All the while showing the photographs. The picture has more effect than their words. The picture will be what is remembered. If they really wished to help Kerry they would nix all discussion. End result?
Republicans = 1 Media/Democrats = -1
I do think they are overplaying the whining about leaks. After awhile people are going to grow immune to those charges. Though in this case the charges are nothing but lies.
IT'S BUSH'S FAULT!!!
So do all the SCOs (spacecraft operators) at KSC who work in the crew module every day look like idiots, too? They wear the same thing.
I am ashamed of some of the posters here.
LOL We smell something too... ;)
Hey ! Didn't Doctor Evil wear one of those suits in an Austin Powers movies ? If you can find a side by side...we are off to the races. I don't have that kind of talent yet.
Is there any damned thing this man will take responsibility for??????????????
O'Reilly thinks he won the debate, but he didn't really.
whatever happened to "TouristGuy?"
Can't he be added to #40? And other Kerry Nasa pics?
He was trying to get political traction on the backs of NASA with his little visit. He has no interest in NASA. He has said almost nothing about it. He voted against funding the Space Station a zillion times. If he is humiliated by wearing a clean room suit and climbing in the Space Shuttle for a look see he should not have gone there.
Its his own fault. If the picture hurts his campaign, he earned it. He was visiting a federal agency, on our time, he is a federal employee, we have a right to see any pictures that were taken. He has NO right to privacy due to humiliation of wearing a clean room suit.
I thought the caption read
Senator Kerry, pleased with the results emerges from his annual Ted Kennedy anal probe. He was overheard telling supporters-"Bush want to go to Mars-big deal I'm going to youranus, I mean Uranus"
LOL!!!!
Lighten up!
Yes, Kerry absolutely looks like an idiot, and the SCOs do NOT look like an idiot...just like Dukakis looked like an idiot, and tankers do not look like idiots.
In otherwords, Dukakis is off limits as well? Helmets are standard in the service too.
No, Kerry is being mocked for the same reason Dukakis was. This was a photo op gone bad. Instead of portraying him as good natured, adventurous and in touch with the citizens of Florida it revealed to the nation the character of someone even his most ardent supporters would have difficulty taking seriously.
You have not heard anyone to the best of my knowledge mock those that are committed to NASA service. You have heard defense of NASA and how Kerry would be no friend to them if elected.
And, just a hunch, but I have a feeling the majority of those serving in NASA do not take the appearance of their "bunny suits" as seriously as you do. They serve a good purpose but they aren't going to start a fashion trend.
