DALLAS -- A Muslim charity that was shut down after federal authorities accused it of being a financial arm of terrorists faces charges of conspiracy, dealing with terrorists and money laundering, according to a federal indictment unsealed Tuesday.
The Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development, its executive director, its chairman and five other men were named in the 42-count indictment.
Attorney General John Ashcroft and senior FBI officials planned a news conference later Tuesday in Washington to discuss details of the indictment.
Holy Land, which claims to be the largest U.S. Muslim charity, has been shut down since about $4 million of its assets were frozen by the U.S. government in late 2001. Federal courts have repeatedly rejected Holy Land's appeals to get its assets unfrozen, concluding that the government has sufficient evidence linking the charity to terrorism.
The charity has insisted that its money went only for relief to refugees, orphans and disaster victims. In 2000, it raised about $13 million for what charity officials said were schools and social programs in Palestinian-controlled areas and other mainly Islamic nations.
The indictment charges that Holy Land provided financial aid to the militant group Hamas as far back as 1988. It charges that Holy Land was deeply involved with a group of Muslim organizations that raised money for the "Islamic fundamentalist agenda espoused by Hamas."
The indictment claims that one of Holy Land's "primary purposes" was to subsidize Hamas' recruitment efforts in the West Bank and Gaza.

42-count indictment PING....................
Hopefully CAIR's next.
Thanks to CAIR, the ACLU, the National Lawyers Guild, the Rat party and their judges, it has taken close to 3 years to do this.
The good thing, is that they haven't been financing the killing of innocent Israelis for that period of time.
I worked at Office Depot in Plano (preston and park) when I was in college (~1999). A nice arab guy used to come in and make copies of pro-palestinian literature. I actually agreed with a lot of the stuff he'd copy, I guess to hand out or mail to people. Of course this was before I opened my eyes and saw the destruction of the intifada, 9/11 and all that so I had a somewhat rosy view of the palestinian cause at that time. I'm almost positive some of the literature was from the Holy Land Foundation. His name wasn't listed in the indictment.
Wierd, he was such a nice guy. I sincerely hope he wasn't involved in supporting terrorism. If he was the enemy then we have a very deceptive nemesis.
I heard that John Ashcroft is supposed to give a press conference on these indictments at 2:00 p.m. (I presume that is Eastern Time)
Richard, I know that you have posting articles about these traitors to America and funders of Islamokazis for a long time.
Justice appears to be making its way with these traitors.
Can someone name one legit "Muslim charity" that shouldn't be shut down?
Presser today at two [EST]. We should just keep this as the live thread?
Why did it take until July 27, 2004 to get indictments???
When a FR search is done of the key word, holylandfoundation, the following link and threads under holylandfoundation are shown:

Hmm... Holy Land Foundation has been linked to US resident of Ethiopian-Saudi heritage Abrdurahman Alamoudi who was indicted for money laundering last year and now alleged he was part of a plot to assassinate Saudi Prince Abdullah at the behest of Muammar Gaddafi, and who may be related to Ethiopian-Saudi billionaire M. Hussein Al Amoudi who reportedly controls the Rock Creek Corporation which has or had employed the flamboyant francophile former-Ambassador Joseph Wilson.
Not totally sure about the linkages, but worth a Joe Wilson comment!
See my reply #4 for a partial answer.
Ummm .. isn't this the kind of thing Kerry said he would do if he's elected President
Seems Sen Kerry doesn't have a clue of what is ALREADY occuring
Why don't you send the al Kerry site an email asking for a comment on your question?
I don't think that Wilson has a web site anymore since the release of the 9/11 documents and since the al Kerry Kamp pulled the plug on his site. Of course the al Kerry Kamp only financed his site and provide a link from their site to his.
A friend of mine worked for the Minnesota Irish Children's Fund for a while back in the 1980's. At the time he didn't know that the only time any Irish children ever saw that money was in recycling the shiny brass cases that the IRA would leave behind. My friend told me that he'd had his suspicions (a picture of the fund's director with men in ski masks tends to make one suspicious) but that he genuinely didn't know that the money was going to fund the IRA.
Anybody find the timing of this indictment suspicious? </Sarcasm> ;^)
So How Much Money Will John F'n Kerry Have To Return??
Martha is/was a pivotal case for future sentencing of traitors and other criminals. If they are caught lying to the JD, they can now go to jail with a whole lot of their friends there and going there.
If I had my way, Martha would not be serving part of her sentence in her mansion. She is a low life criminal who lived the elite life. She knew better. I knew better over 30 decades whenever I was exposed to insider knowledge to the time I retired and as a consultant, and I wasn't a stock broker or on the Board of the Exchange. So I never broke the law on insider trading.
Now a question for you. Do you think that a Kerry led Justice department will be tougher on terrorists or a John Ashcroft Justice Department?
