Kerry just flubbed the opening pitch at the Yanks-Sox game
ESPN | 7/25/04 | me

Kerry just 'threw' out the opening pitch at the Boston-Yankees game. Just saw Kerry pitch a really weak opening pitch, well short of the plate, bouncing under the catcher. What a poser!

Naw, interviewing him was fine, ESPN would have done the exact same thing if Bush was at the park. Plus asking him about Pete Rose wasn't a softball, and outed Kerry's waffling tendencies.

But I do wonder if Jon Miller was one of those media members complaining about the inadequate bathrooms in Boston. I wouldn't want to be sitting under the press box windows at Fenway right now...

Here's the URL for the press release I referenced.
I know for certain that ESPN-HD's native format is 720p
Ditto for ABC and Fox. HD-Net, CBS and NBC are in 1080i.

Kerry threw his sinker.

Waffling the ball does that. Maybe he was waiting for UN approval for his high, inside spin ball but the crowd got impatient so he threw the safe pitch.

This last-minute diversion was all planned beforehand for dramatic effect, IMHO

Well from recent news reports .. sounds like he achieved that

I still want to know about the schedule. Did he stand up Florida voters in order to get this photo op? Or was this planned for a while and the press is lying? And if this was impromptu, who was originally going to throw out the first pitch?

The press is lying, Miss Marple. Like I posted, the Times wrote several days that he was going to be at the game Sunday. Remember, Kerry said himself he had this planned for a week -- why all the subterfuge and last-minute diversion nonsense? Because it makes him sound like a big fan to take time off his campaign trail to go to this.

For a baseball game? I doubt it.

%%%%%

I believe it. Kerry is so jealous of everything that GWB does he could just spit! He has constantly made insulting remarks about Bush's 'photo-ops,' and yet so many times, I have seen Kerry do just what he disparaged Bush about.

Free media coverage

Exactly. Of course Kerry doesn't know squat about Pete Rose, Sandy Koufax, Babe Ruth, Honus Wagner, or even what constitutes a full count.

The fact is, ESPN gave him FREE MEDIA COVERAGE tonight. And although WE all see through him for the PUTZ he is, some out there watching may not. To them, this may make Kerry seem like the "All American Candidate" to the uninformed. That is his agenda.

Shame on you ESPN. My email to you voicing my disgust is forthcoming.

Does he throw like a girl? That is sexist....it should say "Did he throw like a non-male person? and if so its alright because we are all individuals

Actually it's an insult to girls. Many female college and high school softball pitchers have a hell of a lot of steam on the ball. I certainly wouldn't want to hit against them. (This from a guy who's brother could pitch a softball in at 75 mph, as measured by a radar gun, well into his late 30s.)

I'd say Jacques throws like a Frenchman, or a wuss, but I repeat myself.

He's not the first to roll the pitch across the vicinity of the plate. Lucky he wasn't wounded.

I'm sure he's putting in for another medal for being booed.

Somebody find a picture of Mary Jo Kopeckne (I don't know how to post images). That girl in the white top behind Kerry looks just like her!

I kid you not. I just asked my family (they were in the car with me) and they all heard CBS say it was a strike. What a joke.

Just saw a pic of Kerry throwing pitch and he wasn't even on the mound but rather on the grass in front of the mound. What a girlie man.
