Star Wars Episode III Title Released: Revenge of the Sith

Special Announcement: Episode III Title July 24, 2004

Starwars.com is pleased to announce that Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith is the full title of the next Star Wars film, scheduled for release on May 19, 2005.

The Sith are masters of the dark side of the Force and the sworn enemies of the Jedi. They were all but exterminated by the Jedi a thousand years ago, but the evil order continued in secrecy. They operated quietly, behind the scenes, acting in pairs - a Master and an Apprentice - patiently biding their time before they could take over the galaxy. In Episode III, they'll finally exact their revenge on the Jedi.

The title was publicly revealed today in a special presentation to a packed audience of Star Wars fans at Comic-Con International in San Diego, California. "For some time now, the naming of a new Star Wars movie has taken on some special meaning among core fans, who love to take part in guessing games before a title is announced, and then engage in debate once it is," said Steve Sansweet, Director of Content Management and Head of Fan Relations for Lucasfilm. "Let the debates begin."

I will see the final installment of Star Wars, but have been fairly disappointed in the prequels. I think George Lucas has been too influenced by fans, creative control wise. This is evidenced most prominently by the inclusion of characters like Boba Fett, who was really a minor character in the original trilogy. Also there is great distinction between the first three movies, which make them unique to one another. I think this came largely by having a different production team for each of the three original movies, with George Lucas always being executive producer. The prequels have all been Lucas and Rick McCallum more or less.

I'm used to being politically incorrect and have a natural aversion to groupthink. So, I'll say it:

I liked both The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones.

Each is very enjoyable and rewatchable.

Don't complain about stiff acting and clumsy lines if you liked A New Hope.

It has nothing to do with political correctness. You simply have strange tastes. Nothing wrong with that either.

I liked the last one about the clones. The one before that was so boring I literally could not finish watching it.

I am not a trekkie type, but I guess by "A new hope" you mean the first one.

I have no idea how good the acting was in it. It was a very very good movie. Maybe great acting is not necessary.

Harrison Ford is so bad in the first Star Wars (Episode IV: A New Hope) that in 1977 I'm sure most people were positive his career was over.

But Lucas/Spielberg saved him with Raiders.

Love the screen name! Why didnt I think of that? Although Darth doesnt work for Reagan because he was against the evil empire ;-).

I loved TPM and ATOC too and Im not ashamed to admit it. Although TPM was the worst of all 5. Star Wars is known for its dumb dialogue. I mean come on, "You rebel scum." or "2 transports against a star destroyer?" The cheesy dialogue is what makes it great.

It's a trap!

I think that TPM is just a little worse than ROTJ, and AOTC is a just a little better.

But it depends on my mood. In any case, AOTC was better than Spider-man and it's "cool" to like that. I guess Natalie needed a seen in the rain.

My prediction, only because it is so predictable, is that Anakin will find out that Count Dookoo is his long lost daddy just like Luke did with Vader.

What do you think of Natalie Portman in the trilogy?

Gone to the Dark Side, she has...

Also, here's a pic of her with Hillary.

KOTOR: Knights of the Old Republic

It's a videogame set 2000 years before the movies during the Republic-Sith war. Don't knock it for being a videogame -- it has a story that unfolds over 50+ hours of voice diolouge that, in my opinion, is better than any Star Wars movie -- even Empire. It's literally the best video game I've ever played. If you have an XBOX or PC, I highly recommend it.

Wasn't there a Jabba the Hut or something in one of those movies? I was thinking Mikie Moore should be asked to play the role.

And Linda Ronstadt could be his stunt double.

I don't think Harrison Ford had an acting career in 1977. Other than Alec Guiness, none of the actors in Star Wars were well known. But you're right, Ford's acting was fairly lame. He admits it as well. But that didn't stop people from joining his fan club. Me and millions of other people liked Han Solo and Harrison Ford was Han Solo.

I disagree that Lucas saved him with Raiders. I think a lot of people wanted to see Raiders because that Han Solo guy was in it. And both the film and Indiana Jones were awesome. And...Harrison Ford was Indiana Jones.

While you may be right about Ford's acting in the first Star Wars, you lack perspective. The thing that was cool about Star Wars was that no one had done anything like it before. Science fiction wasn't well represented in films, with the only exception maybe being 2001. But look what Lucas started!

Since the first Star Wars, there have been some very high quality science fiction films, including one that Harrison Ford did act well in. And that's the trouble with most of the Star Wars films. After setting the standard for the rest to follow and having a long absence to come up with some decent stories (there have been some good Star Wars books written since the first trilogy), Lucas gives us Jar Jar Binks.

I think that Raiders saved Harrison Ford's career because under Spielberg's direction, he showed that he actually could act. Ditto under Ridley Scott.

And don't get me wrong, despite some of the wooden acting in A New Hope (except from Guiness and Cushing, mainly), it is still a fantastic movie -- one of the best of all time, in my opinion.

And I just wasn't so cynical as to hate Jar Jar. I found him funny, and in AOTC, tragic.

Thanks for the info guys. Checked out some screenshots from the game and it does look pretty cool. All I have is the old Playstation, might have to look into getting the xbox now.
