I am here to ask for prayers for my son, Michael. He is 20 years old. He was on his way back to school at Job Corps in Kentucky. When he left, we thought he was having an asthma attack. I thought it was just nerves causing it. During his flight to Nashville, he had such a hard time breathing, the flight attendants gave him oxygen. They almost turned the plane around. An ambulance at Nashville took him to the hospital.
It turns out he has blood clots in both his lungs. Thankfully, they are small and the doctor expects a full recovery. This was caused by a very long car trip this past weekend.
I would ask for the Free Republic prayer warriors to cover him with their prayers. He is all alone in a strange city and is very scared. Of course his momma (me) isn't faring much better.
This is a young man who has caused his family much grief over the past few years and is finally getting his life together. He just won a full scholarship to the college of his choice, and hopes to be an electrical engineer. His dad and I are so proud of him and are so worried right now.
We can't be with him right now, and it's very hard on us. Please pray for a speedy recovery and no lasting effects from the embolism. I have seen many miracles on this site and I am believing for another one tonight. Thanks, all!
I'll be praying for your son's complete recovery and no lasting ill effects. And a few prayers for mom and dad's hearts, too. 8~)
There are good medications now which can speed the re-absorption of the clots.
A tip -- breathing difficulties are the one symptom no one should ever ignore.
If anyone must call 911 for something serious, tell the operator the person is having trouble breathing. Help will arrive that much sooner.
Try to have someone check in on your son. It's difficult to be alone when you're sick.
When I fly, I don't like to walk around on the plane, but I move my legs around while in my seat, flexing and stretching them. When we drive anywhere, we usually stop every couple of hours to potty amd fill up on coffee or cold drinks again, so we get up and move around.
"...use rest stops for walking."
I also just pump my feet vigorously -- heel toe, heel toe every half hur during a trip, whether it is by car, or in the air. Somethimes I do it to music. I've "marched" coast to coast and all the way to Ireland and back this way with no further problems!
When traveling as a passenger on a long trip, I also elevate my feet on a small box so that the backs of my thighs are not compressed against the seat.
Absolutely. My first doctor almost killed me. Left me misdiagnosed for a month and then prescribed too much Coumadin. Luckily I consulted someone else before I bled to death... It's a long, stupid story, but I'm doing fine now.
Praying for Michael's full recovery and that God will give all of you strength and peace. Also for someone there at the hospital to take a special interest and care of him since they know he's far from home.

Prayers made.
I hope he recovers quickly.
Blessings.

Perhaps your ordeal will help someone else, by reminding to be active at intervals when traveling. Amazingly, thromboembolism results in more deaths yearly than AIDS, breast cancer or car accidents.
Prayers sent for your son.

Thanks for the update and we will keep him in our prayers.
Thanks for the ping Meek!
And--- a prayer of thanks to that flight attendant and pilot. Without their attention and concern, he might have been in even direr straits. Bless them!

Prayed.
Father, You know where every tiny blood clot in Michael's lungs is located. You know every problem that is contributing to his illness. Lay Your healing hands on this precious son and purge his body of all these things. Let the blood clots dissolve into nothingness, let his mind remain clear and sharp, regenerate any affected tissues and make Michael whole once more. Surround him with Your holy and protective angels to comfort and minister to him during this time. Inspire his physicians to treat Michael appropriately, and let his recovery be both rapid and remarkable, that all who witness his healing praise You. Thank You, Father! Amen!
