EMERGENCY SESSION OF CONGRESS ON EVE OF DNC's CONVENTION
Posted on 07/22/2004 10:49:16 AM PDT by tomnbeverly
In light of recent comments by John Kerry "If I am elected president and the recommendations of the 9/11 commision are not in place, I will call an emergency session of congress to put them in place"
This is an opportunity the White House cannot pass up. The President should call an emergency session of congress to implement 9/11 commision recommendations immediately. Let the Democrats complain that it is political calling an emergency session on the eve of the DNC convention and all Bush has to say this is Leadership, this needs to happen now to make america safer. These recommendations are not partisan.
Although I have not read the report fully, I am sure that there are some measures in the report that the Dems may not want implemented and any "no" vote will sure to get the american publics attention prior to NOV 02.
What do you think?

The Commission was generally a waste of time and money, and its conclusions are unneccessarily bureaucratic. They should be praised for their efforts, but there is NO mandate for implementation of their recommendations.

Heard an idiot 9/11 Widow (aren't they all?) on NPR this morning attacking the very idea of Congress holding hearings. She actually said "this was an evenly split commission, Democrats and Republicans...they agreed on the solution...what is there to debate? The only thing Congress must schedule is a vote on the floor to pass it into law".
The arrogance of these multi-millionaire ditzes is truly breathtaking.
