How pathetic that Katie Couric is tougher on national security issues than David Gergen. This is one guy who looks like the worm that he is.

That Washington Post comment just shows how inside the beltway Gergen's thinking is.

If it isn't on the front page of the Washington Post, then it is nothing.

Sheesh a plague could be sweeping the Earth and if it isn't on the front page of the WP, it wouldn't concern Gergen.

Gergen is a 'Rat-faced piece of shiite.

And Berger is another henchman of the Clinton grifters.

In all of American history, no worse treason was committed at a higher level than during the Clinton administration.

This, is the Clinton Legacy.

Yeah, Gergen. Pubbies stood right by Sandy Berger and made him shove classified documents down his pants in violation of procedure and Federal law.

Gergen, you miserable excuse for an American, how the heck can you shill for these people?!

My opinion of Gergen just went down about 6 notches (from "mercenary" to 'Rat).

One doesn't just forget about, misplace, or throw away classified documents. Whenever one has a class document out for study, the document is always on the top of your mind. It must be kept in plain view with an appropriate cover on it. You are responsible for it and for its safekeeping. Upon completion, you return it to the safe or vault that is its home. That's the way it works where i work.

This "I threw it out with the trash" is so much male bovine fecal effluvia.

Berger is going to get the John Deutch treatment. Maybe, just maybe a slap on the wrist, but no more than that. The rules for Clintonistas are different than the rules for everybody else. What would put you in jail puts Sandy Berger on TV with Gergen defending him.

Barf!

How did Gergen explain why Sandy was stuffing these documents down his pants?

Can't find a reference but didn't Sandy sit with Clinton during his testimony to the Commission. The press made a big deal out of Cheney and Bush appearing together but made Clinton sound like he went alone which we later learned was not true as he had his lawyer and I think Berger with him. Ol' Sandy was likely conspiring with Clinton to find out what the Commission had to plan their lies. The media provided nice cover since they likely have known since January that Berger was under investigation AND was appearing with Clinton in his hearing.

Couric: "So this is political?" Gergen: "It has those overtones."

SO WHAT

It is still true

Same situation as the coverup of all the commies in the democrat administration under FDR and Truman

The coverup was political

I don't know which is worse--listening to Gergen or listening to Jim Pinkerton.

The Pubbies need to get some effective spokespeople and get them on these news talk shows. Their current representation is very weak.

Zell Miller is a stronger 'conservative' spokesman than most of the ones the Pubbies have showing face, and Zell is a Democrat.

While dispicable, Gergen's shilling for Berger is hardly unusual. If the Clinton years taught us anything it should be that Washington protects itself. The pols and the press nip at each other but when it gets serious they all--Democrat and Republican--find ways to make the story go away or appear unimportant while they back slap, play kissy face and carry on riding the gravy train.

If the average bureaucrat had been caught with taking and "losing" classified, he would have been facing serious prison time. But Berger will probably become a star on the cocktail party circuit and be offered a golden sum for a book about his "persecution."

Gergen has long had the ethics of a Kevin Philips.

As for Berger, the John Deutch comparison is apt. Deutch was the former CIA Director who took home classified information, put it on his PC for the world to see, and was pardoned by Clinton just hours before Clinton left office in 2001.

The question now is, What did Berger tell the 9/11 Commission under oath? Also, How is the Panel going to treat the parts of the millenium after-action report that Clinton and Berger (add Gorelick) didn't want seen in their final report Thursday?

Couric: "Isn't Arnold losing credibility by failing to deliver on his promise of an on-time budget?"

Hewitt: "No, he's delivered on many promises - repealing car tax, reforming workers' comp, etc. Now he's telling Dems they must pay attention to spending, can't bankrupt state."

I actually watched the TodayShow this morning (gag) - I'll admit - I sometimes watch Katie to see if she's got her lipstick on crooked, up over her lip - then you know she's having a bad rat day.

You could tell Katie lost the Arnie bashing segment, she was so miserable she couldn't get the Democrat to scream and she was so outmatched by Hewitt.

It was fun to watch.

Berger was putting his special sauce on the documents, Gergen is putting the wrapper on the special sauce Berger and the Today show is putting it in the bag. Have a nice day.

The Democratic Crime Syndicate drive thru.
