WASHINGTON -- President Clinton's national security adviser, Sandy Berger, is the focus of a Justice Department investigation after removing highly classified terrorism documents and handwritten notes from a secure reading room during preparations for the Sept. 11 commission hearings, The Associated Press has learned.

Could we dare to dream of a smoldering Clinton-era scandal that stretches through the Dem convention

We don't need to dream or fantasize. We need to smack these tyrants up the head sideways as long as it follows the law.  Clinton, although still popular in SOME circles, is the biggest "stain" on the presidency in American history.  It is a pity that W, by virtue of being re-elected just may have to 'pardon' Clinton in a few more years just as he leaves office.

I wonder why they called Lindsey instead of the FBI or the USSS? Is he in charge of Clinton's documents STiLL?

As far as the first post, am I reading that correctly: he took the same report TWICE????

It looks as if the FBI searched his safe and so forth after giving him plenty of time to destroy the stolen documents.

There are still a lot of clintonoids in the FBI, at the highest levels.

I also want to know why nobody was fired or arrested for calling Bruce Lindsay about this instead of the proper authorities.

It looks like he reviewed it, "lost" it, was given a second copy, and then that copy and other documents disappeared. Those two copies were apparently "found," but the other documents still remain unaccounted for.

Apparently he took the same report twice. Probably in hopes that there were no more copies.

If there really is fire amidst all this smoke, talk about the ultimate "Clinton smothers and steps all over John Kerry's convention" scenario.

More like "fatal disease amidst the festering pustule of the Democratic Party"...

(Apologies offered for the analogy for those recently finishing dinner.)

"Buried on Page 2: "Breuer said the Archives staff first raised concerns with Berger during an Oct. 2 review of documents that at least one copy of the post-millennium report he had reviewed earlier was missing. Berger was given a second copy that day, Breuer said. Officials familiar with the investigation said Archives staff specially marked the documents and when the new copy and others disappeared, Archives officials called Clinton attorney Bruce Lindsey to report the disappearance."

1. Berger destroyed a copy.

2. Later he destroyed another copy. 3. When reported to Clinton's legal trixter Bruce Lindsay (why Lindsay? why not the FBI?) , Lindsay ignores it. 4. .....and the Lamestream Press has no curiousity. Please inform your friends of the laziness (or complicity?) of the press.

... if you have a need to know something on the Secret level you undergo a background investigation and then are cleared for Secret. This Secret clearance only gives you access to info which you need to know. Similarly for Top Secret information except the restrictions are much more restrictive...that's the way it's supposed to work, but as a young 1st lt. overseas during the early stages of the Vietnam war I often had to receive and secure Top Secret documents (troop movements, etc) after hours while serving as duty officer - only when I returned stateside after eighteen months was I finally interviewed and given an official Top Secret clearance - presumably things tightened up significantly as the war progressed and hopefully are better now, but even under the system as it's "supposed" to work documents aren't always that secure - Berger would have had little trouble getting away with what he wanted, especially if he deliberately filched them, which of course he did.....

I also got that. It seems he took them and then took their replacements.

This is unFREAKINGbelievable.

It seems he took them and then took their replacements.

But doesn't that fact alone prove it wasn't an accident? Doesn't the fact that he did it twice PROVE he did it on purpose? (What are the chances of 1) accidently taking a report twice and 2) having said report be the SAME report?

I'm so utterly fed up with the evil lying hypocritical thieving gang known as the Democrat party and their liberal press pals. All they have done is shit on this country, yet all we hear is how awful a good man like President Bush is.

It will be a cold day in Phoenix when a Clintonista gets prosecuted. W's Justice Department will not prosecute (New Tone), and this story will be old news in 48 hours.

Well I mean HOW DO YOU 'ACCIDENTLY' REMOVE HIGHLY CLASSIFIED DOCUMENTS FROM A GUARDED ROOM ONCE?

Either he has shit for brains ('I didn't know I wasn't supposed to remove top secret National Security reports')or he is pure incarnate evil. Guess which one I am leaning towards.

This was a premeditated crime. He needs to be prosecuted.

Thanks for the ping! Wonder how the media will spin this one in case it has long legs and might come back to bite them. That would be poetic justice.

If a Republican stole a paperclip, the press would call for a firing line.

Maybe he was doctoring the report and swapping out copies.

Why would the committee vault have more than one copy of anything? Nothing was supposed to leave the room.

Exactly where he and his wife belong quantim, and that is no joke. Best case scenario is that once and for all the public would finally realize the destruction to this nation and our security this team of socialist, Marxist thugs caused. Dream on.
