As I have said over and over, the Clinton administration is the one with blood on it's hands, not the Bush's! This would prove it, but it will be suppressed by the media. Berger might fall on his sword for the Clinton's whose bidding I totally believe he did by stealing the proof.

In an NBC Radio newsfeed I actually heard the reporter say "Berger stuffed the documents in his jacket and pants and smuggled them out." I couldn't believe I was listening to NBC! If the mainstream media starts using words like "smuggle" to describe Berger's actions, this story really does have legs!

Well, his lawyer admitted that Berger knew that removing the notes was a violation of archive procedures (naturally, there has to be some means of controlling notes based on classified documents). So he's really admitting that he intended to sneak them out past archive staff.

What? Bush got clobbered for months in the media and you think he can't correctly point out security deficiencies of the former Clinton administration because of the so-called "New Tone" deal and the fact he's running against Kerry and not Clinton. This is suicide.

Politicians have a right to defend themselves when they're getting slaughtered. Not only that but they shouldn't allow themselves to be stuck on defense defending something they didn't do. They should be on offense.

Also - Kerry is part of the story about how dems as a group have weakened national security. Bush and the RNC missed a significant opportunity to point that out. (It's not just Bush I'm faulting - its the entire Republican team)

Here we go with more threats to Bush. Way to go ...... always make Bush pay for anything you don't like each and every day.

Well, if your vote is that easily given to the other side, maybe you should start picking the beam out of your own eye.

This is our country to protect - bargaining with our vote FOR the future protection of this country is very silly.

"Politicians have a right to defend themselves when they're getting slaughtered. Not only that but they shouldn't allow themselves to be stuck on defense defending something they didn't do. They should be on offense."

Actively pointing out Senator Kerry's many flip-flops and lack of Senate attendance is going on the offensive.

Screaming about what former President Clinton did, on the other hand, is chasing rabbits.

Clinton isn't running for office this year, but Senator Kerry is.

If you take your eye off of Senator Kerry to go chase Clinton, then you've lost the game. That's what happens when you chase the guy who hit you in the head rather than chase after the ball.

Don't take your eye off of the ball if you want to win. Otherwise, all that you are doing is brawling while the other guy is scoring.

Well, Captain Ed says that the notes were automatically classified at the same level as the documents upon which they were based, which makes sense.

Could this also have something to do with Tenet getting the hell out of dodge when he did?

Seen this?

No decision on whether Sandy Berger should face charges
AP ^ | 7.19.04

So what's the problem? The Republicans are in charge now.
Arrest the p.o.s. Berger, cuff him, slam his head into the door of the cop car, and then throw him into a holding cell with a bunch of hairy creeps until he is bailed out. I am sick of waiting for the Republicans to DO something about the scumbag Democrats and their corruption. So don't mealy-mouth me with lame excuses.
I stand by my earlier remarks.

"Berger is a top Kerry advisor."

When you don't have control over the news media, and when the news media is ideologically opposed to you, how things get "spun" factors in.

In this case, you've got to be careful that you don't allow the press to spin anything "anti-Berger" as being anti-Clinton...because that would shift the focus away from Senator Kerry over to former President Clinton.

This delicate balancing act can be done, especially if most of the efforts are simply case work, indictments, and arrests by staff personnel of the offending Clintonites.

...but at no point do you want our President standing up making grandiose pronouncements (because those words will be spun against us).

Deeds, not words. Investigate, indict, and arrest. Don't speechify.

Remember, much of what he took consisted of his own handwritten notes based on the documents he was looking at.

No, I don't remember that. Here is one of the articles:

AP: Clinton Adviser Probed in Terror Memos [Sandy Berger, is the focus of a criminal investigation

excerpt:

Berger and his lawyer said Monday night he knowingly removed handwritten notes he had taken from classified anti-terror documents he reviewed at the National Archives by sticking them in his jacket and pants. He also inadvertently took copies of actual classified documents in a leather portfolio, they said.

~snip~

The FBI searched Berger's home and office with warrants earlier this year after employees of the National Archives told agents they believed they witnessed Berger put documents into his clothing while reviewing sensitive Clinton administration papers, officials said.

When asked, Berger said he returned some of the classified documents, which he found in his office, and all of the handwritten notes he had taken from the secure room, but said he could not locate two or three copies of the highly classified millennium terror report.

~snip~

Berger in fact took and destroyed actual documents, not just notes.
