Did you know......?
If you were born in July, your birthstone would be the Ruby. Ruby comes from the Latin word rubber meaning more red. Rubies comes in a many shades of red, it depends on the chromium and iron content of the stone. It is the second hardest mineral known to exist, diamond is the first.
Legends & Lore:
Ruby is known as the love stone; it is given to open the heart, reconcile lovers quarrels, express passion and promise love. It is believed to stop hemorrhaging and inflammatory disorders. Ruby is the gemstone for Wisconsin.
If worn on the left hand or as a brooch on the left side the wearer would live peacefully with his enemies.
An ancient verse:
"The gleaming ruby should adorn, All those who in July are born. For thus theyll be exempt and free, From lovers doubts and anxiety".

Flower for July
Larkspur is the common name for flowering plants in the buttercup family. Colors range from a pale pink to deep purple. There is a white variety as well. Larkspur can attain heights up to 7 feet. In the past, the name larkspur has been used interchangeably with the name delphinium; however, they are now considered to be separate genus's; the larkspur is annual while the delphinium is perennial.
The name larkspur comes the belief that the flowers looks like a lark's foot: larkspur, lark's heel and lark's claw have all been used.
The color for July is pink and means open heart, pink in particular means fickleness and talkativeness.

But enough about jewels ... can't eat them! And flowers, though some are edible, simply cannot compare to ICE CREAM!, and I think I hear the distant sound of the ice cream truck....

Thanks, Mixer!
1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar. 2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up. 3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit. 4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it. 5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

Oh yes, foxes love ice cream.
One of my favorite memories is Mom and Dad making banana ice cream in the little maker with the wooden tub and the cast iron turner ... the salted ice tasted so good ... and us kids would fight over who got to lick the dasher.
yum

I have a picture of myself from 1978 when I was in Canada visiting my grandmother for her 93rd birthday. I was cranking up the old Ice Cream maker they used when my mom was growing up.

everyone here at the Finest is!
And that Wolfie Toofums graphic of his is adorable!
To: Kitty Mittens
Hi, Miss Kitty! I'm happy to see you here today - seems I miss you most of the time (but then, you may have come and gone while *I* was out, too. Had planned to spend most of the day here today since I've been AWOL so much lately, but our fridge/freezer died this morning, and I had to go out and buy a new one. (Good thing it was grocery-buying time anyway, so not too much in it to transfer to the smaller one in the garage!)

The crank kind, right? Those make much better homemade ice cream than the electric ones. Did you take turns sitting on the towel-covered ice cream bucket while *Daddy* turned the handle? :)

It is "WOOFIE Toofums," that I dubbed him as my 'special name' for our beloved Wolfie...:))
I once gave him the howling wolf graphic, and he added my name for him, and in the cry placed ((((Exie)))) - his sometimes nickname for me of Sexy Exie - -
he is a lovable one-of-a-kind of Animal..:))

My fridge died not too long ago, and I lost a few stored vittles; it was annoying! But it was nice getting a brand new fridge! :)
