Riding High In Union County, NC

County Spotlight: Union County

Republican activity in Union County has recently accelerated with the addition of a new Young Republicans organization. Building on a solid foundation of strong leadership in the Union County GOP and other auxiliary clubs, Young Republicans Chairman Nick Polyzos took the initiative in forming this new organization, which recently held its first meeting. With over a dozen people in attendance for the initial meeting, the Young Republicans are building a solid club focused on helping to elect as many Republicans as possible.

Thank you. I truly believe hard work pays off. We need all the support we can get. either by endorsements, contributions, membership, etc.

Well good luck to you. I do have a question though. Will your group have a set standard by which they will support a Republican (i.e. level of actual conservative thought and action, even if said action stands in opposition to national groups, organizations, or branches of the national government)? Or do they just have to have a R by their name?

I hope it will be the former as we have much too much of the latter...

We will support, as is stated in the by laws of the YRNF(Young Republicans National Federation) that we will not support a candidate that is from another party other than the Republican Party. I don't make the rules, I follow them. Now how I feel about certain candidates is another issue.

Can you FReepmail me something about your organization? We're sort of youngish, at least not totally old, Republicans in Union County. We have no money, but we have lots of cheap labor available for conservatives!

Thank you for your support. Here is the low down on the club: 18-40, registered Republicans, residing in Union County. Members over 40 can still be a part of the club. Dues for active members is 20.00 per person. This is for the 18-40 group. Anyone over 40 can still join at 15.00 a person. The only drawbacks for over 40 members aka Associate members is that can not vote nor hold club office. We invite all to come and join to help push forth a W in November. Any help, to answer your question, is greatly appreciated.

I'm not suggesting supporting any other party. What I am asking is if your organization would support a liberal candidate (by NC standards) that has won their primary just because they have a R by their name. Or would you not support anyone in that instance. This has happened in this state

I, as Chairman, can not endorse anyone, or oppose anyone in that case during a primary whatsoever. The membership is encouraged to help the candidates of their choosing.

Hope you're liking NC so far, except for that pesky beltline. Nobody likes that, I've been here 9 years and I STILL get confused with it at times.

Are you doing anything special for the 4th?

I do like it.. except for the times that I need to know where I am going. The beltline is just the tip of the ice berg! I found way way around the United States, Italy and France... and I hardly ever got lost... Getting to and fro around the Raleigh and Cary area has me dumbfounded! I can't even just come back the way I went... One can end up in a different intersection with that attitude and get LOST!!!

I am getting a GPS system! That's it...

The neighbors here, are having a tent party and old fashioned games.. we will be attending that!

How are you and do you have any plans for Independence Day?

LOL, you poor thing. Isn't it great how the roads curve around all over and then change names about 3 times to boot. I long for a grid pattern of roads like we had in S FL.

We are all doing great. The kids are out of school until the 12th when they go back and move up to the next grade. Can't wait ; )

We are going to some friends for a good old fashioned cookout/pool party. Happy Independence Day to you and your family.
