BOSTON - In 1995, already divorced from his first wife Julia Thorne, John Kerry pressed for an annulment. He didn't bother to tell Ms. Thorne. The church simply informed her by way of a letter that this was the case. Ms. Thorne had been severely depressed and near suicide when Kerry walked out on her, and in pressing for an annulment he cast his daughters into the bizarre state of illegitimacy. One of them was still a teen at the time.
Compare that to the Jack Ryan case where - BOTH - parents were arguing to keep the records sealed so that their 9 year old son could be spared the embarrassment of unsubstantiated allegations.
What's good for the Jack is good for the John!

John F*ckin: America's second Black President.
I don't understand why no media outlet - specially FOX refuse to investigate & report about it.
Kerry is in the grand tradition of politicians in general. he is boring and sucks the life out of any event, even his own life.
Kerry's a black man and investigating a black man's sex life, is racist, doncha know? (laughing)
What do you mean by that?
He certainly is ready to become whoever people want him to be - and whoever he thinks would help get him elected.
You know, the kind of lifestyle Clinton had that endeared him to black Americans? Looks like Ketchup Boy may have one too.
He's referring to the Toni Morrison comments about Clinton being black.
Furthermore, note that it doesn't say he actually got an annulment - and in fact, he himself has only said that he "requested" one. So with his remarriage, it's rather unclear that he is actually a member in good standing of the Catholic Church (although he seems to believe that claiming he is will get him votes). I'd like to see more information about that, too, while we're digging through records.
It's important to note that an anullment from the Catholic Church does not mean Kerry's daughters are illegitimate. This is not the Church's stance at all. An anullment only affects the Sacramental portion of the marriage. It has nothing to do with the daughters.
In years gone by this created a tremendous headache, and heartache, for those children, e.g. Henry VIII's daughter Mary.
Granted things to do are no where near as bad for children of annulled marriages but still...why did Kerry do it? It would seem to me a secular divorce would -- and did -- solve the matter of his first marriage. Why the annulment as well? Perhaps his children sided with their mother and this was his way of "getting back" at them. I have no idea. But it does strike me as a mean, even vicious, thing for him to do to his own children.
You're right. But if they were, its not going to hurt the Boston Brahmin much in a party that's main motto is not judging people's personal lives - as long as they're Democrats.
OK, I see what you mean by that. But you should be in the habit of explaining yourself when you drop a rhetorical grenade like that.
I know all about that comment. Heck, I wrote the thread about it. But I wasn't sure if he was making reference to Clinton, or just saying that Kerry was acting like a black man because he had illegitimate children.
I don't have any illegitimate children, and I am delighted to hear Bill Cosby sounding more like me everyday.
In Louisville, KY, Maker's Mark distillery is opening a whiskey sampling lounge. Their speaker, heard this morning on the radio, has adopted J F'ing Kerry's speech pattern. It is enough to make me take up Vodka drinking.
Rhetorical grenade? It says much about the country that underperforming is expected of black people - and white Democratic candidates should play to it. Bill Cosby thinks blacks should demand more of themselves and the way to do that is to start leaving the Liberal Plantation since the Democrats take the black community for granted.
Secondly, the Clintonians that embraced it, embraced the image of Blacks as racist as anything one can imagine. It is in effect saying Clinton's terrible character and actions are okay because they compare to the mascot group that they have held captive to their vote buying by policy.
Black Americans, like any other American, will build their own history of service. Thomas, Rice, Powell and many others are doing it in this administration.
The dirty little secret of kerry's divorce is that he most likely demanded alimony FROM his wife.
It was met with such ridicule and outrage it hasn't been repeated and the media is protecting him by not mentioning his endless gaffes.
