I see you got an answer about AVG... to flush stuff, poke "tools," "options," and hunt around... but IMO there is no substitute for manually locating and deleting those "temporary internet" folders... Windows recreates them, so no harm is done if you delete the subfolders... I have found loads of files in them that were supposedly deleted by various utilities.

I've been over looking thru the Firfox forum, didn't see anything about purging the cache.
Did see discussion about the tab extensions, and what the proper way was to use tabs, and why don't they......

Have you tried BHODemon ? I just ran across it while reading more on BHOs and haven't yet tried it. It looks promising and is free. I'm using Firefox almost exclusively, but still have IE for certain websites.

Try BHODemon - it's Free!

Think of BHODemon as a guardian for your Internet browser: it protects you from unknown Browser Helper Objects (BHOs), by letting you enable/disable them individually.  BHODemon is free, runs in the "tray" area, and works on Windows 95 or later operating systems (in other words, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 98SE, Windows ME, Windows NT4, Windows 2000, and Windows XP).

Poke tools, options, privacy... a menu with the option to "clear" cache will appear.

Anyone have problems with spybot not updating ? Never sems to be an update for that search and destroy thang...

Squantos, I just downloaded an update yesterday- your installation may have become corrupt. Try removing it, and then reinstall from the website, then recheck updates- they don't always have the latest database info included in the installation software.

Thank you. The two programs you cited above have protected my PC and have executed the resident Spy/Adware pests.

Not a single pop-up since I installed it, and its running faster than ever!

Thank you again.

Apparently, SnD 1.2 doesn't update any more, now that SnD 1.3 is out. Just figured this out.

Right! ( Smacking head! )

I tried updating the older version, too, and It wouldn't do it... then noticed the new release out, installed it recently- that's what updated yesterday.

BTW, the advanced setting, run in safe mode boot, finds a lot more stuff. Ad-Aware, too.

Yep, me too. Your post to Squantos above made me dig around and figure out why.

Will have to try the safe mode approach.

I end up touching someone's PC at least once a quarter, and it's amazing how much spyware crapola is on most of them. Most people really don't have a clue how bad it is.

Check out CEXX.ORG

They have mucho information about spyware, who does it, how you get stuck with it and how to remove it. These folks have saved my hide.
