I would have guessed I was a Reagan Neocon.
Seems I'm a realist.

This is an incomplete quiz. Nowhere soes it address the admiration for large, powerful government the neocons seem to have when it comes to domestic issues.

Not only that, it neglected to address our chaotic, out of control borders and the destruction of our sovereignty the neocons seem to embrace or just ignore.

I knew you were a Realist. I knew LE was a Neocon. When I first met her, 20 years ago she was a liberal. I calmly converted her into Conservative. She became a Neocon due word changes.

Realist ... The other alternatives involve taking one answer to extremes or applying it to all situations. Once you see that a particular formula or solution may not always work, you become more of a realist.

Neoconservative

Neoconservatives…

Want the US to be the world's unchallenged superpower
Share unwavering support for Israel
Support American unilateral action
Support preemptive strikes to remove perceived threats to US security
Promote the development of an American empire
Equate American power with the potential for world peace
Seek to democratize the Arab world
Push regime change in states deemed threats to the US or its allies.

Historical neoconservative: President Teddy Roosevelt

Modern neoconservative: President Ronald Reagan

I take the neo label in Foreign Policy only.

I am totally against large federal government, my pet project being the destruction of the Dept. of Education.

I agree with you, the categories are really overly simplistic.

Give me an example of "admiration for large, powerful government the neocons seem to have when it comes to domestic issues".

NeoCons don't even care about domestic issues; they're a one-issue group that focuses solely on foreign relations.

Name one NeoCon that's big on domestic issues. Bill Kristol doesn't count.

NeoCon was originally coined to describe first the anti-communist left, then Scoop Jackson Democrats who were stronger on defense than nixonian republicans, and finally Dem Defense Hawks who left the party. Richard Perle, the arch-NeoCon, was in fact an aide to democratic senator scoop jackson in the 1970s before becoming assist. SECDEF for Reagan in the 1980s. In fact, he's still a registered Democrat!

Nah I answered anti-UN, but got labeled a realist.

At least I think I answered anti-UN. I checked the one that said the US leads and the rest of dogs can follow if they want. If they don't follow, tough doo-doo.

"There are many happy to have been given an identity. Watch them rejoice."

Let us rejoice, indeed encourage it.

99% of people who even took this poll here are voting for Bush and conservatives, that is good for Republican political goals and they are allies.

The one thing Ive found that doesnt make sense are those (not you) who try to divide FR and Republicans into factions, each claiming to be the ultimate authority over another when none really are. I see no tangible good that comes of it and consider it petty oneupmanship more suited to elementary playgrounds.

Thats my opinion. Im sure someone thinks the infighting (they would call it healthy debate im sure) somehow makes us stronger, smarter or some such bs.

A house divided can not stand.

I'm in shock. No one's ever accused me of being a realist til today. This gives me a whole new outlook!

Maybe it's age that's done it- but as a baby-boomer, I frankly don't give a hoot at this point about neo-cons, traditional Republicans, or Libertarians. I care that John Kerry is defeated in November. Period.

As a Republican it seems to me there's plenty of room in our tent for neo's, traditionals and anyone else with common sense!
