The Liberals do think of TR as a echt-Conservative. Big Government supporting Big Business.

Eeeek!!! "Based on your answers, you are most likely a neoconservative."
Hmm... I thought that I would be considered an isolationist, like my hero, George Washington. :(

I, also, was rated "most likely a neoconservative." However, reading the blurbs about their categories, I think I am somewhere between a neocon and a realist. I have no problem being among Reagan, Teddy, and Eisenhower.
If I had ended up with Woodrow Wilson and Jimmy Carter I would have had to jump off a very tall bridge with six cinder blocks tied to my leg!

After reading Dutch, I'm a bit wary of anything by Edmund Morris. But Dutch himself enjoyed Morris's writings on TR, so....
The quiz said I was a neocon, but I've taken to calling myself a neorealist in the last few years. I'm still rather fond of old-fashioned Westphalian states, but non-state actors are important, too. National interest is definitely important, but I think ethics should inform our foreign policy. A commentator in Foreign Affairs said Bush's foreign policy was the most ethical yet (IIRC).

Gosh... big surprise, I'm a realist! Yep... took off them rose colored glasses a long time ago.

"what "old" flavor of conservatism are we departing from that we need the new word?"
With the neo-cons, it's a departure from fiscal conservatism, as well as departure from the belief in smaller gov't. There appears to be little regard for running up the deficit with our current non-vetoing administration.

All you neocons out there, you might want to read the book:
The Pentagon's New Map . It will help you solidify your views.
