There are unconfirmed reports that a soldier from the Tri-State kidnapped in April in Iraq (news - web sites) has been killed, WLWT has learned.
Pfc. Matt Maupin, 20, of Batavia, Ohio, a member of the 724th Transportation Company, was captured April 9. His convoy was attacked by gunmen using rocket-propelled grenades and other weapons.
According to military representatives close to the Maupin family who spoke to WLWT, sources are reporting that the Al Jazeera TV network has a videotape of Maupin being shot.
The military has not changed Maupin's status, and the report of his death has not been confirmed.
A tape showing Maupin being held by guerillas was released about a week after Maupin was reported missing.
Additional details are forthcoming.

This would be the ultimate cruelty for this family if this info is not true, and was only put out by the media to detract from Iraq's transfer of sovereignty.
Prayers going up for this family.
carpet-bombing will not anihilat the kaaba.
I say use nukes.
the big planet-busters we thought we wouldn't need anymore.
let the Sun of Man kiss the Rock of the Moon-God, and vaporize it in our wrath.
Can't say as I blame you. I do appreciate your service to our country. You've certainly carried more than your fair share....I don't mind stepping up to the plate. Hang in there.
They'll be in our prayers.
Excellent...I do believe you are on to something.
I blame NBC, ABC, USA Today, Al Jazera and the Washington Post. They have blood on their hands. They, along with the inhuman barbaric savages will surely burn in hell.
I am sick over this. I have been worried about Matt for months. I am still hoping he is alive. Maybe the video is fake. Remember when some of our uniforms were stolen from a laundry in Iraq? I hoped this morning, when Zakawri was said to be captured, that the hostages would be rescued. The video looks like it was filmed at night not after the early handover. Maybe it was filmed two months ago. Where is his body?
You forgot to include the democRAT party, I'm sure they are delighted with the news too.Michael Moore is a giant pus filled, oozing, pimple on the ass of America. Here another soldier is killed and Moore has his "film " which is filled with lies and trashes our military, gives them NO credit for liberating Iraq, makes Saddam look like a loving gentle man and his Iraq, a wonderful paradise, but makes our soldiers look like cold blooded killers. Unbelievable.( Course the worst part is that people buy into this. Not a good sign for the future of our nation.)
Prayers for Matt's family and friends. I hope we hunt down and kill the b*stards who did this! No more being nice.
(I swear, political correctness will be the end of our country.)
Still praying this isn't true...
What do you expect from the ilk of the purveyors of 9/11? I don't think things are going to get any prettier, they are using the Viet Cong playbook. And our worthless media are playing on their team...
another image from the video...It is grainy but the man's hair is pretty short and he has a broad set of shoulders blades, but the shoulder droop.

another picture of Maupin...
http://images.thisislondon.co.uk/v2/news/iraqmaupinvidR290604_450x350.jpg (Maupin in his capture video - look at his shoulders (drooping) and he looks to have a broad chest as well as broad shoulder blades)
Maupin looks to be broad shouldered with a thin waist, the person sitting by the hole in the ground looks to have the same upper torso structure as Maupin.
I believe it his him and that he was killed a long time ago (probably right after his capture video was aired) and the freaken terrorists had to have something to shock us with yesterday since the surprise turnover of Iraq was yesterday.
Where is Peter Jennings angst and the hand wringing we saw when American MPs made Iraqi prisoners stand naked?
Where is the outrage we saw from the Dems when some MPs "disrespected" Iraqi prisoners?
Now, an American is executed for trying to save a country from a dictator, and Mary Kay Olsen's losing weight is a more important story!!!!
Is there any question what should be done with the Islamic terrorist mujahedeen prisoners being held at Gitmo?
This soldier was part of a fuel convoy, I believe, when he was captured. Criminals should be executed--people who beyond a reasonable doubt have committed specific unspeakable atrocities. Guarding a fuel convoy is hardly such a crime. Nor is putting up cell phone towers nor is coming to Iraq from Korea as a missionary of peace.
Millions of people both inside and out of the U.S. are justifying these executions, and that is a sad statement on the logic and civility and common sense of our world today. There are rules agreed upon by civilized people to minimize death. Ignorance of those rules by enough people will result in a cascade of killings that can never be stemmed.

Rest in peace, Pfc. Matt Maupin .....
Thanks for the ping though.
