Fahrenheit''s Embedded Cameraman Revealed
IMDB ^ | June 27, 2004 | Hildy

Posted on 06/27/2004 8:50:33 AM PDT by Hildy

Scenes in Fahrenheit 911 of U.S. soldiers taunting and sexually humiliating Iraqi civilians following the successful invasion were shot by Urban Hamid, an embedded Swedish-Iraqi journalist who is presently a doctoral candidate at the University of Colorado, the university's student newspaper Camera disclosed today (Tuesday). Moore has declined to respond to questions from interviewers about whether he resorted to subterfuge in order to embed photographers among U.S. forces and has been criticized for not showing footage of the abuses to U.S. military authorities earlier. But Camera reported that the controversial footage by Hamid was actually shown at a theater in Boulder as long ago as March 1 and was subsequently brought to Moore's attention. Hamid, who has lived in the U.S. for the past 12 years, told the newspaper that he has returned to Iraq three times in the past year, presumably to continue to document the course of the war. "Every time I go back, it seems it's gotten worse ... When I last went back, people were so tired and exhausted and had lost hope. It's extremely sad to see."

You never know...that's why I ask.

I contemplated seeing it, but I'll do so in a way which Michael Moore doesn't touch one red cent of my money, if I choose to.

I look forward to the Film Festival in Dallas this September - that will be a hoot.

that is interesting, could it be that Michael Moore in his pitched fever to produce his anti-bush infomercial (and it is a infomercial) is the one who is actually responsible for the putting Berg in harms way?

This is the question that should be asked. In fact where are the lawyers approaching Berg's father to file a suit against Moore for reckless endangerment? If his dad is really anti-corporation then he should have no problem suing moore.

"Too many Americans have a glorified and sanitized version of the war," Hamid said. "I want to put a name, smell, taste, sound and face to the war and people of Iraq."

A lecture Hamid gave in Glenwood Springs was sponsored by the Roaring Fork Peace Coalition, an anti-war organization active in the Glenwood Springs and Carbondale communities.

(snip)

Hamid became a foreign correspondent in Iraq because he wanted to change American perception of the Middle East.

"I used to think that Americans were compassionate, generous and caring. But people sort of gave up their voice to let the warmongers speak," he said. "I was very disappointed and wanted to help people regain their voice."

A very liberal friend of mine asked me to see that movie yesterday. I told her I was not interested. She is blatantly anti President Bush. I am a confirmed Bushbot.

My computer is down so I am operating off an old, slow laptop and don't have time to look for a link. BUT, the July 8 Rolling Stone magazine says that the rumor in Iraq is that "Berg had been sold out by a jealous contractor, a journalist hoping to score points with the insurgency, one of the hotel's (where he last stayed) Arab employees." It's not well written but I think they are trying to say Berg was sold out by one of the three (contractor, journalist or hotel employee).

Weird coincidences abound. Urban Hamid says he was kidnapped on April 8 (then released rather quickly).

Nick Berg was last heard from---April 9, by my recollection.

Just another weird confluence of events? We all know a rash of kidnappings have become more common...

Both seemed to hop back and forth, too, entering Iraq via Jordan.

" Who paid for this "student" to fly back and forth to Iraq four times to take pictures of our soldiers? "

We were wondering that about Berg, too. He went to Iraq not once, but twice, with a very short turnaround time in between.

From what I can gather from this blog and emails, Nick Berg was actually working for none other than Michael Moore seeking out film footage amongh the Mujahedeen in Iraq when he fell in bad favor with them and instead got his head chopped off.

Man ! If THAT'S TRUE, it's time to declare a JIHAD on Mikey. FULL FORCE of the law on him !!!

Well, one possibility might be that Berg thought of Hamid as his partner in Moore's operation, whilst Hamid thought of himself as a free agent, taking money not only from Moore but from the terrorists--to sell out Berg. ("Psst, hey Berg, want a blockbuster of an interview? I know some guys, they'll love you...")

"Scenes in Fahrenheit 911 of U.S. soldiers taunting and sexually humiliating Iraqi civilians following the successful invasion were shot by Urban Hamid, an embedded Swedish-Iraqi journalist who is presently a doctoral candidate at the University of Colorado"

This is a Muslim attack against our soldiers and our country, and we reward the slime ball by educating him in our universities. I've said it before, Islam in general is the enemy of the soul of America, not merely some radical group of 'terrorists'. The question is, will we wake up to this fact soon enough?

"I contemplated seeing it, but I'll do so in a way which Michael Moore doesn't touch one red cent of my money, if I choose to."

Best way to do this is go to a multi-screen theatre with Moore's movie playing, but buy tickets for another movie, then go see Moore's thing. The other movie will get the credit for your attendance.

George Soros?
After all, this could easily fit within the "do anything to beat Bush" premise.

I still believe the "abuse" photos were an intentional set-up to be used as propaganda to influence the election.

From the article linked at #85 Hamid is living in Sweden now:

Now, Hamid lives in Sweden where he is a freelance reporter for the newspaper Aftonbladet.

His CV that I linked earlier in this thread does list his latest article as being for Aftonbladet.

The article in #85 confirms he is anti-war and interacting with some real anti-Bush types.
