Fahrenheit''s Embedded Cameraman Revealed
IMDB ^ | June 27, 2004 | Hildy

Posted on 06/27/2004 8:50:33 AM PDT by Hildy

Scenes in Fahrenheit 911 of U.S. soldiers taunting and sexually humiliating Iraqi civilians following the successful invasion were shot by Urban Hamid, an embedded Swedish-Iraqi journalist who is presently a doctoral candidate at the University of Colorado, the university's student newspaper Camera disclosed today (Tuesday). Moore has declined to respond to questions from interviewers about whether he resorted to subterfuge in order to embed photographers among U.S. forces and has been criticized for not showing footage of the abuses to U.S. military authorities earlier. But Camera reported that the controversial footage by Hamid was actually shown at a theater in Boulder as long ago as March 1 and was subsequently brought to Moore's attention. Hamid, who has lived in the U.S. for the past 12 years, told the newspaper that he has returned to Iraq three times in the past year, presumably to continue to document the course of the war. "Every time I go back, it seems it's gotten worse ... When I last went back, people were so tired and exhausted and had lost hope. It's extremely sad to see."

Thanks for more links. I'm on my way out but definitely will read later. As to his nationality, in the link at 85 he says:

Hamid said he considers himself a citizen of the world.

Now you say there's an article that says "French National". Hmmmmmmmm

Back in a bit.

Apparently they do not all realize that Doug from Upland is clearly and totally responsible for his death. I am involved in black ops and have a direct hotline to the CIA and NSC. They monitor my posts hourly to get a clue as to what they are supposed to do next.

Good thinking. I hate to expose myself to propoganda, but then, I can handle it - and I need to see what my neighbors are using to make voting decisions.

I knew that. I just didn't want to be the one to say it.

I have just ordered black helicopters to circle the Moore mansion and drop box after box of Krispy Kremes tainted with anthrax.

The communists amongst us worship government, so in a way, this is a religious experience for them. Makes total sense to me. And right now, the muahammadan is the enemy of their enemy, i.e., God and Americans that believe in Him and vote Republican, and therefore the enemy of their enemy is their friend...

In the end, the question is: who killed Nick Berg, and why?

To be continued .....

My suspicion is that Nick Berg was a Michael Moore mole who was supposed to meet up with the "fun-loving" guys from al Qaeda and give Moore some good footage for his movie. Instead, Berg ended up on a spit, roasting over a fire.

Hummm... Never thought of that.
And Nick reluctantly went after daddy's loving blessing.

"He wasn't mad. It was adventure for him," Infante said, a view echoed by another friend, Andrew Duke, who said Berg shook off his detention.

Hamid, who once lived in Boulder for several years and attended the University of Colorado,
......'nuff said.

Interesting ... here's another dude from Boulder ...

"Basically his attitude was it was all sort of fun, inconvenient," recalled Duke, 43, of Boulder, Colo.

Duke, who drank beer with Berg the night before he left, said Berg told him he had made a lot of money and was thinking about going sailing in Turkey. He said he thought Berg was planning to leave the country by land.

Inquirer News Service

In Zamboanga City, the military reported that Abu Sayyaf bandits attempted to abduct two foreign freelance journalists covering the Balikatan 02-1 exercises. The two journalists were identified as Christopher Johnson, a Canadian, and Urban Hamid, a French national of Egyptian descent.

The pair, who arrived last week, were preparing to board a ferry bound for Basilan on Friday when two men posing as Army soldiers approached them and said they had been sent to assist the reporters. The journalists became suspicious and contacted the military, who told them to return immediately to their hotel in Zamboanga City. "The two journalists declined (the invitation of the suspects) after sensing danger because the men failed to show their IDs," said Lt. Col. Fredesvindo Covarrubias, head of Southcom civil relations group. "Intelligence reports indicated that the men are Abu Sayyaf members trying to lure the journalists," said Capt. Harold Cabunoc, commander of the Army Scout Ranger unit in Basilan. "We did not send anybody to fetch foreign journalists," he said.

***What I don't understand is why some network, FOX perhaps, doesn't go and do a special about how far we've come in Iraq.***

ABSOLUTELY!

FOX News has made quite a lot reports on the success we've had so far. Last night Geraldo's At Large Report from Iraq was especially good imho

Will Moore ever release this footage? No.

Could it not be seized as evidence in the investigation of Nick Berg's murder?

Why doesn't Moore pick up his own film crew and go over for himself? If he is such a great filmmaker, why doesn't he shoot his own stuff? Is he afraid that some Islamo-facist is going to put him on a roasting spit. If he is, he has nothing to worry, Moore is so fat, he would break the spit.

Actually, Moore would and would be forced to film fact and not be so easily able to stage the lies.

Why are you mischaracterizing that article? Yes, he did say that he sees hope but only with respect to Shiites and Sunnis working together and "...in the way people talked about the coming election and the chance to rebuild their future."

More excerpts from the article:

"...there was a kind of feeling they (Americans) shouldn't have been there in the first place.'"

"At night, he would turn off the air conditioning in his hotel room and listen to the white noise of guns firing in the streets. A suicide bombing rattled the walls so hard he thought there was an earthquake.

"Humvees were everywhere, carrying coalition soldiers armed with machine guns.

"The voices of Iraqis hardened when they spoke of the military occupation.

"Posters cited human rights violations in reference to the sexual abuse at Abu Ghraib prison, claims of illegal detention and the perception that Iraq's identity is being tossed aside in favor of a jerry-built imitation of the United States."

And the professor "...still sees the possibility of the violence and assassinations spiraling out of control toward an anarchy that once begun would be nearly impossible to stop."

Yes it could! I have wondered why someone doesn't do just that.
