It was - but that tableau of Nancy and the children at the coffin is also universal. I don't know why there has to be so much pain in the world.

I do not know how Nancy has stayed so incredibly composed this week. If I were her, I probably would have lost my ability to walk by today.
God is very powerful. That is the only way for her to have made it through this week.
I sobbed all day. My eyes hurt. I am so glad they didn't allow commentary. I was flipping channels and I heard Pat Buchanan, Chris Matthews and Howard Fineman bash George W. I just couldn't take it. Back to C-SPAN.
I noticed the same, and Brit Hume on FoxNews was commenting on it. I called the station to add in that the procession of cars didn't have to be in the left lane (out of security concerns), but apparently someone made a far-reaching decision to drive as close to the people as possible.
I am not ashamed to say I shed tears for President Reagan. President Reagan was my CinC for more than a third of my military career.
I held myself together until the bagpiper played 'Amazing Grace'....then I started to get 'misty'......and I completely lost it when Mrs. Reagan laid her head on the casket......you could hear all the cameras clicking & I thought.....too bad such a private moment of grief was intruded by all those photographers.
The entire day was, as I heard Bernie Shore (formerly of CNN) say, 'American Majestic'......I believe that describes Ronald Reagan himself.....full of the American spirit, gracious and gallant!
I looked at the mountain tops in their various shades of dusk gray and smokey lavender and envisioned a "city on the hill" silhouetted there on the highest peak.....and that's when I lost it.

Indeed. They will discover that making political commentary inappropriately during the funeral will be remembered in November.
I teared up several times this week, but I sort of broke down when listening to President Bush 41's speech when he lost his composure, and especially tonight when Mrs. Reagan was saying her last goodbye at the casket.

Apparently the Wellstone rally taught them nothing.
Been crying for a week, Bob. Watching tonight was the worst, especially when Mrs. Reagan went to the casket with the flag in her hand.
May GOD bless her and grant her and the family peace in the knowledge that he is in a far better place where there isn't any Altzheimers...
I thought that all three of President Reagan's children did wonderfully. They shared a piece of their love of their father.
Everyone has his/her own baggage, but there is no doubt that these children love their father; and he loves them.
I went to a memorial here in Stamford CT, held by a Republican on the cities board of reps. No input from the Dem mayor of course. He didnt even show.
Back on topic. Yes, I cried alot today.
I was driving on the interstate here in Montana on beautiful scenic mountain roadway in the mountains, listening to the eulogies on the radio. I started to get misty when Thatcher came on. I had to pull over, and as I did, there were several other cars in both directions pulling over.
