I have one question to ask which has been kind of bugging me. Where is Jane Wyman? I know she was Ronald Reagan's first wife and IIRC, she is the mother to Maureen and Michael (adopted) but I haven't seen hide nor hair of Jane Wyman. Is she going to any of the funeral speeches?
That's true unless they're celebrating.
True Very True.
I don't think she's dead, but I think she too may have Alzheimer's. I'm not sure about this, but I vaguely recall that there was some problem. In any case, either she or whoever is her caretaker is doing the right thing.
I was wondering about her myself. I thought perhaps she was no longer living? Someone here might know. She was a good actress.
Lewis Grizzard also had the greatest line I ever read. He said that after all of his failed marriages that he wouldn't get married again, he would just find a woman he can't stand and buy her a house. Love that line.
I went to my ex-husbands funeral. He was killed in a car wreck at age 23. He was my best friend.
"[W]as Reagan the only divorced President?"
Yes he was. And I've heard some criticism of him for it from some staunch Catholic conservatives. But of course, he was not a Catholic, so in hindsight, I think they were unfair.
And vis-a-vis ex-wifes at funerals, I remember when Cher gave the Eulogy at Sonny Bono's funeral. I thought that was sweet.
It's good to know Jane is still alive, because I thought she was gone before also.
He is the only one.
I read that she was a committed leftie and that she divorced Reagan because of Reagan's conversion to conservatism.
I also read that when she walked out on him she was fooling around with Lew Ayres, but the affair didn't lead anywhere.
Jeepers, you got answers to all your questions in no time.
See, everyone associated with Reagan lives a long life. That is good for the country.
No. And, we didn't see "hide nor hair of Jane Wyman" during Reagan's years in the White House.
Ms. Wyman is a true class act, IMO.
(And, yes...she's still alive)
Well, regardless of her political leanings her decision shows some class. IIRC, she never commented about him when he was in office. Not publicly anyway.
I thought Ford was also divorced.
Well, think what you want, but since SHE wanted the divorce while Reagan wanted to keep the marriage intact according to the woman who exchanged letters for 50 years with Pres. Reagan, I imagine she has had second thoughts over the years. I always thought it was strange that in those long-ago days, they gave Maureen and Michael, who was adopted, to their father instead of her. The general opinion of the day was that Jane Wyman considered herself a much bigger star than he was.
Naw, he just traded her in. ;-)
I remember seeing a small frail looking lady in the shadows with a military escort. Somehow, I know that was her.
This pic was taken in 2001 at Maureen's funeral.
