That's a great link OOrang! I went through our threads and pulled the information and mixed it with info from other places as well. It is hugely time consuming and an eye killer to boot. I wish we could sort our information some way and not have to go through reading all posts on the Threat Matrix threads to find info. I can dream, can't I?

With all due respect, you are badly misinformed. Most reliable estimates place the membership of the Klan in the 1920s at anywhere from 3-6 million, with most settling on the figure of four million *members* (not including family and community sympathizers). Party labels were not relevant in many of the states where the Klan gained power. From Reconstruction until recent decades, it had been effective one party government in most of these states. We just took control of the State House in Texas for the first time in 125 years. GWB was (I believe) only the second Republican governor since Reconstruction. So blaming the dems for the Klan is irrelevant and misleading as a few decades ago literally everyone in many of these states were democrats.

The resurgence of the Klan in the 1920s (the rise of a widespread, broad based American party of fascism at the same time as it was rising in Germany and Italy) did not last long (Senator Byrd is the last of that breed), but for a time, it most definitely gained the support of large portions of the population of certain states.

Germany was an enlightened democracy with a respected and cultured people when it drifted into its madness. It is not idle trivia to ask how and why otherwise decent and sane people could be attracted to such undiluted evil, whether in America or Germany of the time. In the answer to that question of the past can be found answers to the evil we face today.

Heck, during the 1960's the glow from burning crosses was visible on the horizon all the way from Miami to Homestead and Florida City. But there weren't thousands of folks at the "lightings!" They might've numbered around a hundred at most. When I was about 16 I was coming home from the Keys with my best friend when I stopped around midnight at the lone stop light in Florida City, just before the keys started. I saw four white guys beating the crap outta a black guy on the steps of city hall while a white cop sat in his patrol car and watched impassively. When they were done bruising their fists (light stayed red, we sat) they strolled away and the cop arrested the black guy for "disturbing the peace." I wanted to go help, but my buddy swore if we interfered it'd go worse with us than for the black guy. I still feel bad about that. But we were just kids. Things did change in the area, slowly.

Although all the whacko groups like the Klan and the nazis etc are usually lumped together, you can't really do that. Each appeals specifically to certain types of nutjobs. Their numbers continue to dwindle. They could, however, see a resurgence with more terror attacks on home soil. That would be bad.

Sorry, got to disagree on several points especially the party controls as they connect to the Klan and racism in general See a documentary by WGBH TV in Boston (a very liberal station) which documents this in their recent special "Reconstruction."

The Republicans passed the Civil Rights Acts of 1964 and 1965. They were able to overcome the objections of their democrat bretheren in Congress with the help of liberal Dems in the North East. Barely.

The Democrats are still the majority political party in the South. it's just that most of the white dems happen to vote Republican. Ever hear of the so called "DixieCrat?" Or the "Reagan Democrat?"

Okay, I'm off to bed. I'd just like to apologize for sounding nasty here. I'm a teacher, started summer vacation today and nerves are still extremely frayed over this past school year. I'm just dead tired, too. G'nite, all.

Hi JP. Yes, thank you so much for all those helpful links. That is partly what kept me up very late last evening researching -- and away from TM. The only way I could really concentrate on the research was to ban myself from visiting here -- otherwise I never leave and work doen't get done!

JP, here is my unfounded "scare" yesterday:

I had alot of errands in a few different towns to accomplish beginning early yesterday morning. One was to go to the Salvation Army. By the time I arrived there at about 11 a.m., I had to desperately use a bathroom. So my friend Paul suggested I use the Salvation Army loo. As I rushed to the back of the building and entered a separate back room mostly for workers and folks dropping off heavy items like furniture, I came across a television with no one watching it and it was apparently tuned into NYC channel 7 news (abc). It was covering a breaking story of an attack in NYC. All I saw were split screens and "Live" and frantic activity and shots of NY.

Across from where the tv was set up, was the bathroom. But I did not have to use it anymore as I was too shocked and stunned looking at the tv. My heart was pounding trying to figure it all out; is this a new attack? Paul and I kept going back and forth with comments to and questions for each other, looking for clues; there was no indication or footage that told us it was from 911. It appeared as a breaking news, live, in progress broadcast. Keep in mind that our cable was out until late afternoon on 911, as luck would have it, so we missed all the "live" extended television coverage except for what little was showed afterwards. By then, most news reports had replaced the "Live" with "Recorded earlier"....etc, and they had greatly edited and condensed the live footage.

But the footage Paul and I saw on the tv was live, so it said across the scene. It was also filled with tech and communications problems and other mistakes and lengths of silence on the parts of those covering in the studio. It was really as if it was raw and live in progress.

We tried to turn the channels on the tv, to see if it was real and on other stations or not, but we couldn't. The remote was not responding to us.

Finally, after a good 3 minutes or so, another television news anchor came on and said that courts would close at 1 p.m. I looked at Paul and said it is probably 911 footage because courts are not open on Saturdays. But, we wondered, why would a tv channel be replaying such a thing?

Shortly thereafter, a Salvation Army worker came over to us and started watching the tv, too, so we asked him what it was, and he told us it was a video that someone had just dropped off! At that same moment, FINALLY -- the footage of of the burning Twin Towers and then the smoke clouds when the Towers tumbled was clearly showed, where it had not been shown at all before as we watched the tv!

Whew! Sigh of relief! I told the man that we couldn't figure out whether it was a new attack or not because all the footage we were watching up until that point did not show the Towers. I told him it gave me quite a scare. I ended up buying that video for $4 on the spot. Finished watching it this morning. It was live, as it was happening for a few hours.

Giant blast believed to be meteor

A meteor entering Earth's atmosphere is the most likely explanation for a huge bang and flash of light that woke people all over Wairoa.


People reported what sounded like an explosion at 3.40am yesterday from Kotemaori, south of Wairoa, to Mahia Peninsula in the north and Lake Waikaremoana inland.

Sergeant Chris Flood said he slept through the bang but many people had been woken by it.

"The reports have come in from places probably 75 kilometres apart.

"It must have been one hell of an explosion."

Those who had been awake said they had seen light filling the sky, much brighter than lightning.

"It lit up everything, they said," Mr Flood said.

There had been no reports of damage.

A meteor seemed the most probable cause.

A Mahia resident said she had been woken by a big thud, followed by two or three smaller ones.

"I thought someone had hit our shed so I went and had a look but there was nothing there," she said.

The senior astronomer at the Carter Observatory in Wellington, Brian Carter, said he had received no reports of a meteor in the region.

June had been predicted to be a quiet month for meteor showers in New Zealand, but it was still possible for a single meteor to come in.

"It must have been something quite impressive," Mr Carter said.

The meteor could have exploded in the atmosphere, in which case none of it – or only very small parts of it – would have hit the ground.

Observatory astronomer Kay Leather said a meteor, which may be no larger than fist size, would cause a loud explosion and a light as bright as daylight.

The duty seismologist at the Institute of Geological and Nuclear Sciences, Peter McGinty, said the institute had a station at Nuhaka, north of Wairoa, but it had recorded no tremors at that time.

That indicated that the meteor – assuming it was a meteor – must have burnt up in the atmosphere.

I spent 2 1/2 hours on the phone to him yesterday. He knows the TRUTH and is ready for battle.
OH how I hate to see him hurt. The good thing is I can count on him to always make the right decision.
