Dio, that's a GRATE picture. (you had to be quick to stop that slide show...)

Shows the simple human side of RR.

From the SF Examiner, April 30, 1983; his sense of humor and kindness.

As some of you know I work at a nursing home. I often feel a twinge of sadness when I look at the pictures of my residents they have of themselves and their loved ones when they were younger and healthier.

And now they are aged, crippled, confused and some so far gone from reality that sometimes they don't recognize their children when they come to visit.

Please tell your parents you love them today, if you are still lucky to have them with you.

Did/will Jane Wyman attend any of the services?

I read last night that she was at the Reagan Library yesterday morning during the ceremony before the public came through.

I was watching some footage of Maureen Reagan that Fox was showing yesterday, and was suddenly struck with just how much she looked like Jane Wyman. I knew she was her daughter, but I'd never realized just how much she had LOOKED like her!

I heard on the radio this afternoon, that President Bush had given the order that the plane carrying Reagan's body to DC was to be called Air Force One during the flight. What a great gesture.

Now THAT is a Lady !

I'm so glad she was able to attend, despite her poor health. I'm sure she would have been heartbroken to have missed it.

In pictures, she and Reagan seem to be having such a grand time together!

Just the thought tears me up. If you ever see a video of that (I looked, couldn't find), would you *please* ping me to the link?

Thanks.

Hi Doc......nice to hear from you!

Haven't bought anything from France for a long time.

Chiraq's (correct spelling) insult coming after his grand words on D-Day has confirmed that nothing has changed.

I really had hoped that the renewed memory of all America had done to liberate them would make a difference.

DoughtyOne, the patriots that I pinged above were looking for a DVD of the Presidents funeral and events. I hope you don't mind that I pinged them.
Here is the thread where they made their request.

Folks here's the a possible DVD for you.
Would somebody be kind enought to let me know how this works out ?

I looked for Michael during the ceremony and didn't see him, but it was another touching moment afterwards when he touched the casket, then saluted.

Absolutely priceless to see Lady Thatcher.

She is still magnificent: both as a private person and a politcal figure.

"word is that she can no longer speak - the taped eulogy for Reagan is something she made years ago."

She can speak just fine. She taped the eulogy in February. However, given her stroke and frail health, her doctors believe that public speaking has become too much of a strain; thus she announced last year that she would not be making public speeches any more.

Margeret Thatcher is in my opinion the only person who showed up dressed as if she was going to a funeral.

A great leader and a very classy lady. Were an American woman to come on the political scene like Lady Thatcher, I'd vote for her in a second.

My friend I am 80 and feel like I am 53. It is all in the mind, and I am so sorry that our wonderful Ronnie had his go bad on him. At 80 I find that my short term memory is leaving. I can only hope that my loving wife of 59 years will not have to go through what Nancy went through. She is truly a wonderful lady.
It has been a long time we have not seen eachother. Maybe someday we can do another "FReep".

The very best to you and yours.
