CLINTON DISAPPOINTMENT: LEFT OFF FUNERAL SPEAKERS LIST

Former President Bill Clinton has privately expressed anger he has apparently been left off the speakers list of Friday's Reagan State Funeral, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

"President Clinton really held out all hope the funeral would be a nonpartisan event, like Nixon's was," a top Clinton source said on Tuesday morning. "He's angry and disappointed neither he nor President Carter have been asked to speak, as of yet."

The top source says Clinton has been critical that both Bush presidents will address the crowd gathered at National Cathedral.

Nixon's vice president Gerald Ford did not speak at Nixon's funeral.

Clinton's inner circle is convinced Nancy Reagan has personally shut out Clinton from any high-profile participation.

"It is a state funeral, using tax dollars," the top Clinton insider explained.

Former President George H.W. Bush, former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney will join President Bush in eulogizing Ronald Reagan, Reagan's office announced. Presiding over the service will be former Sen. John Danforth of Missouri, who is an ordained Episcopal priest. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor and the Rabbi Harold Kusher will give readings, while Irish tenor Ronan Tynan will sing.

The eulogy is being prepared by President Bush's chief speechwriter, Michael Gerson, who also wrote the president's moving speech for a memorial service in the same cathedral after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

He can give his speech while he's jacking off on the john. There's no precedent for his speaking. He's just a media whore.

Let Carter speak at his best friend's funeral - CASTRO. After what Castro said about our beloved Reagan, it's beyond comprehension that Carter would even think he should speak! CASTRO: The man who should never have been born, has died.

Yeah plus if Clinton's is not around then they virtually eliminate any liability surrounding young women being molested at an event they sponsored.

Oh, I forgot about that one.

"Former Canadian P.M. Brian Mulroney will be a Eulogist as well."

Yes, as a matter of fact, GHWB and Barabara went to Mulroney's daughter's wedding recently.

I have no doubt but that the Reagans received an invitation out of courtesy, even though it was obvious that they would not be able to go.

These people are/were all friends; they go to each other's families' weddings, and sadly, funerals, and they eulogize each other.

Guaranteed, Clinton will either record or write his own eulogies for others to present at his funeral.

I agree this is outrageous of Clinton.

Clinton's appearance would only add a sleazy factor to a funeral -- a man who had not respect for the Oval Office in contrast to Reagan. Seeing Clinton one is always reminded of "the fat, ugly pig" as Imus referrs to "that woman."

Only a tacky liberal would see a funeral as an "EVENT" of any kind. Who has ever lost a loved one thought of the wake, memorial, service or funeral as an "EVENT?"

It goes a long way in explaining the Wellstone "EVENT," er, memorial.

And, contrary to numerous reports...actually Thatcher will be there.

She will not be able to deliver a live eulogy, but will deliver a 10-minute videotaped euology for Reagan.

How come Clinton isn't wondering why Gerald Ford isn't speaking? The only reason he brought up Carter was to try to deflect his utter selfishness. I just don't think that Carter would speak -- I don't think he could bring himself to say anything positive about Reagan.

This has me pretty riled up. They just have no sense of decency. GROW UP, CLINTON and friends.

A short time ago President Bush and the Japanese Prime Minister made a short appearance before the press. They took a few questions. Since I was in the midst of reading this thread I held my breath with dread thinking "what if someone asks him if Clinton should be allowed to speak at the funeral?" It wouldn't surprise me if before Friday some minion in the press corps does just that.

Currently all leftists statements about President Reagan are being poorly received by the public

Notice that Republicans are calling Reagan a "great American hero that freed the world of communism" while the Democrats are calling Reagan a "great American icon."

An icon is an image, not reality. Take note of Dem words, they are carefully crafted to skew truth.

So that the taxpayers can graciously be a part of the funeral, you big dolt.

Karter and Klinton aren't worthy to scrub Ronald Reagan's toilet.

With the DemonRat antics during Senator Wellstone's funeral, they of all people have nerve bitching about partisan activities at funerals. As far as I'm concerned, the skiffy liberal media (98% majority) can stay the hell away, too.

Clinton is only concerned with his own self. As for Carter, on Sunday morning (before teaching Sunday school in Georgia), Jimmuh told the press he would not have a formal statement regarding the death of Ronald Reagan. Hardly someone Nancy would wish to extend an invitation to.

Oddly enough, I can't find a list of speakers for the Kennedy funeral. It was a mass, so perhaps there were fewer speakers. It's hard to determine, from the articles I see, who spoke at the mass and who just "issued statements" or the like. My impression of the funeral is that Jackie did indeed want it tightly staged for maximum dramatic impact... too many speakers would detract from that, I suspect. It doesn't look like there were too many, that's for sure...

Clinton's behavior is appalling, like usual, folks. But, I really believe that the above is the end of the matter.

Might as well invite Chairman Mao and Adolph Hitler to speak at Reagan's funeral if Klinton is invited.

Yep. If tax dollars are used, it MUST be a political rally. They cannot separate the two in their minds. It is all about the politics.
