Controversy develops over Reagan funeral speakers...

CLINTON DISAPPOINTMENT: LEFT OFF FUNERAL SPEAKERS LIST
Former President Bill Clinton has privately expressed anger he has apparently been left off the speakers list of Friday's Reagan State Funeral, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.
"President Clinton really held out all hope the funeral would be a nonpartisan event, like Nixon's was," a top Clinton source said on Tuesday morning. "He's angry and disappointed neither he nor President Carter have been asked to speak, as of yet."
The top source says Clinton has been critical that both Bush presidents will address the crowd gathered at National Cathedral.
Nixon's vice president Gerald Ford did not speak at Nixon's funeral.
Clinton's inner circle is convinced Nancy Reagan has personally shut out Clinton from any high-profile participation.
"It is a state funeral, using tax dollars," the top Clinton insider explained.
Former President George H.W. Bush, former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney will join President Bush in eulogizing Ronald Reagan, Reagan's office announced. Presiding over the service will be former Sen. John Danforth of Missouri, who is an ordained Episcopal priest. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor and the Rabbi Harold Kusher will give readings, while Irish tenor Ronan Tynan will sing.
The eulogy is being prepared by President Bush's chief speechwriter, Michael Gerson, who also wrote the president's moving speech for a memorial service in the same cathedral after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

I guess I could be wrong. But I would have sworn it was the Reagans. Because I remember thinking at the time how odd it was that anybody could harbor that much hatred for someone as fundamentally likeable as Reagan.
Can't x-42 STHU and perhaps say something in the Rotunda instead?
Frankly, I am more interested in freezing Kerry out than Clinton.
Am I the only one who thinks that this is just his excuse for his book release being dumped to the bottom tier of the news cycle (Where it truly belongs), and he can't complain for that fact and must complain about something else as to (try to) not look as petty as he really is?
A Clinton understanding duty, devotion and dignity? No. I cannot imagine it.
Hey Bubba---this is NOT about you.
However, there is one way you could become a center of memorial attention I suppose.
Would any of us want bill clinton speaking at our funeral?
I don't want that lying adulterer anywhere near me, dead or alive!
Carter would never complain about something like that. You're right, it's all about Bill.
Jackie Kennedy tightly controlled all aspects of that funeral....It was the ultimate Hollywood production, the final curtain for Camelot.....Then, she married Onassis..
To me, the very sickest part of all this is clinton saying Nancy Reagan is personally shutting him out. Whether true or not (I hope it is!), how dare he make these purely political comments about this woman in mourning. It is dispicable and disgusting. On top of that, this funeral for Ronald Reagan is NOT a "partisan or non-partisan EVENT". It is a funeral for a great man. For the dems, everything is politics. I am sick to my stomach.
Does the country really need to see his crock-o-dial tears and quivering lip?? Pray for W and Saint Nancy
Another leftist who's unusually silent about this is Michael Moore. Wouldn't have anything to do with his movie coming out, could it? He doesn't want his movie "Dixie Chicked".
It seems they're both testing the waters to see what spin to put on this. Currently all leftists statements about President Reagan are being poorly received by the public and Hill and Moore are taking notes. We'll hear from them soon.
Yeah plus if Clinton's is not around then they virtually eliminate any liability surrounding young women being molested at an event they sponsored.
Oh, my, I'd forgotten about that. Yuck.
If Clinton keeps this up, I might re-think my position on being silent when he passes.
What a petty terrible thing to say. Yes, I realize that Drudge likes to stir things up, but this has the flavor of a trial balloon and I hope Nancy stands firm.
You know he has a long speech ready to go, hoping he can use it to upstage President Bush. I don't think Nancy will cave. Anyone who has cared for someone like Ronnie as long as she did has a core of steel.
Loved the photo of Bush 43 with his parents at the National Cathedral for the 9-11 victims.
Did you hear Barbara's comment afterwards of being stuck next to BJ? "Here my son is President of the United States, and I still can't get a decent seat."
He'll be remembered as ONE OF OUR GREATEST PRESIDENTS.
On the other hand, clintoon will barely be remembered....and if what him and hill did to this country ever comes out...he'll be remembered as a traitor to America and on the list of one of the worst presidents in US history.
Carter still has not forgiven Reagan or the American people for not reelecting him. He still doesn't get it --he was the worst thing for this country. And, then he blamed the American people for the "malaise". Reagan was extremely gracious in allowing Carter to receive the hostages. Carter has never reciprocated in any way to Reagan (not that Reagan ever expected him to). Carter has done nothing but trash our wonderful country since he left office. It took the jaws of life to get him to say anything about Reagan's death.
I can hardly wait to hear how many times Clinton called Nancy to check on Reagan's health and to offer his best. NOT! I bet it's in his book. This is just going to be too rich.
The only "list" that Carter and Klintoon belong on are a national sh!tlist. Both are on mine.
No. She won't. We forget.
