Controversy develops over Reagan funeral speakers...

CLINTON DISAPPOINTMENT: LEFT OFF FUNERAL SPEAKERS LIST
Former President Bill Clinton has privately expressed anger he has apparently been left off the speakers list of Friday's Reagan State Funeral, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.
"President Clinton really held out all hope the funeral would be a nonpartisan event, like Nixon's was," a top Clinton source said on Tuesday morning. "He's angry and disappointed neither he nor President Carter have been asked to speak, as of yet."
The top source says Clinton has been critical that both Bush presidents will address the crowd gathered at National Cathedral.
Nixon's vice president Gerald Ford did not speak at Nixon's funeral.
Clinton's inner circle is convinced Nancy Reagan has personally shut out Clinton from any high-profile participation.
"It is a state funeral, using tax dollars," the top Clinton insider explained.
Former President George H.W. Bush, former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney will join President Bush in eulogizing Ronald Reagan, Reagan's office announced. Presiding over the service will be former Sen. John Danforth of Missouri, who is an ordained Episcopal priest. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor and the Rabbi Harold Kusher will give readings, while Irish tenor Ronan Tynan will sing.
The eulogy is being prepared by President Bush's chief speechwriter, Michael Gerson, who also wrote the president's moving speech for a memorial service in the same cathedral after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

I profoundly disagree. I have known Carter since before he was governor of our state (and a sanctimonious, micro-managing one he was, too. Walked around lowering the thermostats in the Capitol building, gave the GBA fits because of course they were balanced and he threw the entire HVAC system out of whack.) As a fellow Georgian, I always wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt. I too used to say that he was a good decent man but a bad president. But his conduct since leaving office (starting with the horrible interview he and Rosalyn gave back in 1980 where they trashed Reagan just out of pure spitefulness, though his much-publicized spat with the Southern Baptist Convention, his unsolicited attacks on Bush, etc. etc.) I can no longer say that in good conscience.
BTW, he isn't usually "called to act as mediator" - nine times out of ten, he "volunteers himself" for the job. As he did in North Korea, where he freelanced an agreement without the knowledge or approval of the U.S. It irked Clinton no end that he did it, but his inept negotiations made the NK problem much worse. When he's "called", it's usually by a socialist or Communist government seeking to embarass the U.S. (e.g. Venezuela). And the Nobel Prize, I fear, was simply the Committee's way of giving the U.S. one in the eye.
He's a dunce, underhanded, arrogant, and in effect committing treason when he lobbies with foreign leaders against our current President and national foreign policy initiatives.
Once again the me, me, me, me and I, I, I its all about me I have to be the center of attention syndrome strikes Clinton. I saw Clinton on the news, I believe it was on Fox News, when he related a story of how he visited Mr. Reagan after being elected to his first term, Mr. Reagan handed him a jar of red, white and blue jelly beans with a Presidential Seal on the lid. While telling this story, Clinton called the White House his White House, and the Oval Office his office. Such arrogance and self importance.
When has he ever been respectful of anything or anybody...least of all the dead? It's all about him, you know.
Nancy Reagan ought to be in the Senate.
She would know what to do with the
Democrats.
pass the doobie. sheesh.
<< Carter is still hoping to find a legacy. He sure can't look on his Presidency as one.
Clinton could have built a legacy, he gave into this baser self and Monica defined his Presidency ..... >>
And that's only because he got lucky when his red herring [The whoremonica] worked and diverted attention from his various other lying, looting, thieving, mass-murdering, serial rapes and treason long enough for Gorelicker to destroy the links between intelligence-gathering and feral police work and save him and his loathsome and fearsome spouse, Bruno, from his 'preidency's' real legacy -- and life sentences in Leavenworth!
Laura Ingraham just mentioned this story BTTT
Because--- unfortunately--- he's still breating!
whoa, do you realize you used the words 'good' and 'respectful' in the same sentence with the name Clinton!?
I think you are both absolutely right on the mark about Carter!
When the casket was being brought into the lobby of the library to lie in repose, the camera moved over to cover Mrs. Reagan and the family. As it did, there was a shot of a very elderly, very frail-looking woman, dressed all in black, standing with her arm around that of a military escort. The escort appeared to be of general officer rank (perahps a one-star vs. the three-star escorting Mrs. Reagan). As you pass through the library doors, this lady and her escort were standing inside on what would be your right.
A very elderly woman, allowed into the private family-only service and accorded the honor of a high-ranking military escort, but who didn't sit with the family? I don't know who else that would be other than Jane Wyman. On the other hand, since I didn't hear anyone mention her name, it's not impossible it was someone else.
Yeah; doubtless she's seen the Clintons' behavior at funerals. I'm sure that Nancy has no desire to turn her husband's funeral into a democRAT canpaign rally.
.
Ahhh, thanks, but I just vented.... AnAmericanMother gave excellent detail to support her conclusion :-)
Hey, I suffered through it! :-D
His disappointment is our joy.
Ford said on Larry King Live that he will be there.
May I take the liberty of correcting your spelling? Thank you!
". . . he's still breeding!'
